Spinning Beach Ball in Mac OS X Snow Leopard

I‘ve been using my MacBook Pro for sometime after upgrading it to Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.1. But lately, I’ve been getting a lot of the dreaded spinning beach balls while surfing the Net. I learned that the culprit is Adobe Flash which eats a lot of system resources and contributes to a lot of heat. So until Adobe fixes this issue with Flash, the best solution I’ve found is to install the Flashblock Add-on in Firefox and the ClickToFlash app in Safari. These tiny programs block all Flash applications until you want to use them.

Well, it worked great for me and certainly brought down my memory usage and lessen heat problems. Best of all, the spinning beach ball of death is gone!

Download ClickToFlash for Safari.

Use your Add-on installer under Tools in Firefox to install Flashblock.
