Description
MLA North East have commissioned from the AHDS and the King's College Digital Consultancy Service to produce a range of supplier training courses (modules) are to be created which recognises a supplier’s commitment to the digitisation sector. A STS training mark will be assigned to commercial IT / digitisation supplier’s who participates in a training program and then produces evidence that demonstrates that they can conform to the standard.
These training marks will demonstrate that an organisation or individual has the knowledge and the proven ability to create and deliver digital media products and services to the standards required by the museums, libraries and archives sector.
Organisations obtaining STS marks will be ranked higher on the “Resource Database” that is currently under development. This database also contains a training database module for the awarding of training marks and the control of courses which NEMLAC will maintain.
The Museums, Libraries and Archives Council as a national body have agreed to endorse the STS training marks so that they maintain credibility within the commercial and museums, libraries and archives sectors.
The project will run for approximately six months (March - September 2006)
