Faith-Based and Community Initiatives

USAID is helping farmers' organizations, like this group in Kano, Nigeria, to plant and harvest higher-yielding crops. These women have boosted their incomes by producing more cowpeas than in previous years.

Welcome!

Thank you for visiting the website of USAID's Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives (CFBCI). It is our aim to better equip faith-based and secular community organizations as they provide assistance to people in need around the world. We do this by serving as a bridge between small nongovernmental organizations and USAID; by increasing the capacity of these organizations to better compete for funding opportunities; and by encouraging collaboration among the people and organizations addressing human suffering around the world.

We hope this website will be a useful resource for you. Answers to frequently asked questions about USAID and the CFBCI are posted on the site. In addition, I'd like to highlight the minutes and resources from some of our recent conference calls and events, as well as the CFBCI November 2008 "Call to Action" conference, including the presentations on "USAID Partnership 101" and "Capacity Building Resources."

Don't forget to sign up for our email newsletter which provides weekly updates on grant opportunities, USAID news, and development events as well as announcements of conference calls and meetings hosted by the CBFCI.

Please let us know if you have any suggestions for how we can improve our website to make it more useful to you and your organization.

Sincerely,
Mauricio Vera, Acting Director
