The Music Room, Gregynog

Saturday, 12 June 2010, 11am – 5.00pm

A Musical Breakfast

Presentations and performances to revive repertoire by Welsh composers who benefited by the patronage of the Williams-Wynn family of Wynnstay, Denbighshire, and made prominent careers at the London Pleasure Gardens.

They include John Parry (Parri Ddall, 1710-1782), the legendary triple harpist who played at Ranelagh,  John Parry (Bardd Alaw, 1776-1851), the Denbigh-born musician and entrepreneur who was associated with the Vauxhall Gardens and became ‘the principal musical caterer for that delightful summer retreat’, and Elizabeth Randles (1800-1829), the ‘Little Cambrian Prodigy’ who created such a sensation when she performed at a Musical Breakfast at Vauxhall at the age of three that members of the Royal Family wished to adopt her!
