Prime Minister’s Biography

Recep Tayyip ErdoğanAs the Chairman of Justice and Development Party, which won general elections in July 2007, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan became Prime Minister of Turkey’s 60th government.

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was elected İstanbul Mayor in the local elections of 1994 and served as Mayor of İstanbul from 1994-1998. 

The Justice and Development Party was established by Mr. Erdoğan with his friends in August 2001.  Following his election to the Parliament in March 2003, Mr. Erdoğan was appointed Prime Minister of Turkey.

He graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Commercial Sciences of the Marmara University of İstanbul.
