【General Information Handbook (GIH)】
The General Information Handbook is the first line of reference for all matters concerning the JET Programme. This bilingual book is sent to new participants in their home country before they depart from Japan.
All participants are strongly encouraged to thoroughly read the GIH, and to bring it with them to Japan.
In addition to invaluable data and information about living in Japan, the GIH also includes many essays and articles that can help participants to make a smoother transition to living in Japan.
Because the GIH is bilingual, presenting the same information in English and Japanese, participants and host institutions can use it as a tool to facilitate communication when language problems arise.
