Leicester City continued their unbeaten home league record under Sven-Goran Eriksson, with a resounding 4-2 victory over a determined Millwall side.

City opened the scoring through Lloyd Dyer, before Millwall equalised James Henry after the visitors missed a 2nd minute penalty City regained the lead through Yakubu and Sol Bamba made it 3-1 just before the break. The visitors were handed a controversial penalty, which was well slotted by Jack Smith, before Bamba scored again and in the process secured the three points.

Eriksson, made three changes to his side for the npower Championship clash against Millwall. Ben Mee was given his debut for the Foxes, replacing Jack Hobbs who was named on the bench.

Yakubu came in for Steve Howard who was named as a substitute and Paul Gallagher's knee injury ruled him out, so Darius Vassell returned after a hamstring injury prevented him from taking part in the last two games.

Two minutes in to the game and debutant Ben Mee's late challenge earned the visitors a penalty, with the tackle taking place just inside the area. But an awful spot kick from hotshot Steve Morison was blazed over the bar, failing to trouble Chris Weale at all, as the Foxes escaped the early scare from the visitors.

In the sixth minute a superb run from Lloyd Dyer released Darius Vassell and he combined well with home debutant, Yakubu, as the Foxes began to gain a grip on the game.

That grip on the game was firmly established with a tremendous opening goal for City in the eighth minute. Slick work between skipper Andy King and Dyer, meant the Foxes wideman was able to break through and cooly slot the ball past Millwall keeper, David Forde.

But in a frenetic start at the Walkers Stadium, Millwall hit back immediately. James Henry's sensational strike from just outside of the area levelled things up for the visitors, with Weale helpless in the City goal.

The game began to settle in to a flow, with Steve Morison causing danger for the away side, before a 15th minute speculative shot from City's Yuki Abe.

A long throughball from Ben Mee was slightly over hit as the pace of Lloyd Dyer again threatened the Millwall defence. Then moments later in the 20th minute, Kyle Naughton and Darius Vassell combined well, before Yakubu had the opportunity to cross but was well blocked.

Two games and two goals for the Yak. City's frontmen was fed by Lloyd Dyer and he duly obliged by running at the Millwall defence, before a carbon copy dummy, as per his strike against Preston, and then followed with an accurate strike to put City 2-1 up.

In the 28th minute, a Millwall corner reached skipper Alan Dunne, and his powerful downward header bounced up before being tipped over by Weale. Then, a minute later, City countered through Richie Wellens, whose intelligent pull-back reached Lloyd Dyer and his shot was well-saved by Forde.

With 32 minutes on the clock, Richie Wellens' sweeping ball found Bruno Berner, whose cross was headed back by Darius Vassell, and fired wide by the dangerous Lloyd Dye

A quickly taken free-kick by Richie Wellens in the 34th minute found Yakubu, who fired the ball across the box, for Sol Bamba to turn the ball home for his second goal for the Foxes. Bamba was then booked, presumably for over-celebrating.

Goal: City 3-1 Millwall (Bamba)

Tremendous defending from Sol Bamba, almost in the vain of Bobby Moore, set City straight on the path forward, before a Bruno Berner cross couldn't quite be reached by the advancing Kyle Naughton. Moments later there were concerns over Bamba, who leapt through the air and collided with Abdou, but the popular defender returned to the action quickly.

Great work from Darius Vassell and Kyle Naughton released Lloyd Dyer in first-half injury-time and his shot curled just past the post as City had a comfortable lead at the break.

Half-time: City 3-1 Millwall

Millwall made an immediate change with new signing Darren Purse replacing Theo Robinson as Kenny Jackett tries to alter the fortunes of the away side.

Millwall earned an early second-half free-kick and a curling cross from James Henry was eventually turned over by Morison. Then Morison returned the favour and slid the ball across for Henry, who couldn't quite reach it, as Kenny Jackett's side were reminding City that they were still in the game.

In the 54th minute, Chris Hackett fired across the City goalmouth without troubling Weale, as Millwall continued to threaten, but City were always looking likely to catch them on the break.

It was Hackett again who caused trouble for City, beating two defenders, before firing the ball across the box, with no one near to give the away side the finishing touch they craved.

In the 62nd minute City attempted to gain territorial advantage with Wellens and Dyer combining well, before Purse denied the City winger.

Three minutes later, Bruno Berner was booked for a trip, offering the away side the opportunity to swing the ball in to the box and add further pressure. But Yakubu brought the ball out from defence and led a pacy counter-attack, which resulted in two penalty appeals for the Foxes, with Vassell felled and then Dyer's shot blocked by a hand.

Then controversially, Millwall were avoided a penalty which Jack Smith converted to beat Weale, who guessed the right way, to fire the Lions back in to the game.

Goal: City 3-2 Millwall (Smith, pen)

The drama at the Walkers Stadium continued as Berthel-Askou was sent off for a lunging two-footed tackle on Yakubu. From the resulting free-kick, City fired their fourth goal and it was Sol Bamba again, his second of the day and third of his short City career so far. Bamba bundled the ball home against the ten-men as City restored their two-goal advantage.

Goal: City 4-2 Millwall (Bamba)

City made their first change of the afternoon with club captain, Matt Oakley replacing Darius Vassell in the 74th minute. Then a minute later, Kevin Lisbie replaced Danny Schofield for the visitors as they made their second change of the afternoon.

Again, City surged forward and Yakubu earned the Foxes a corner, which was cut back for Richie Wellens who fired just over the bar.

Then Ben Mee put in a monumental challenge to stop Steve Morison when the striker seemed certain to pull the trigger as he bared down on goal. Mee, who had harshly been judged to have given both penalties, made a superbly timed challenge to save the Foxes from the threat of a third Millwall goal.

In the 84th minute, the explosive Lloyd Dyer was replaced by Martyn Waghorn as Eriksson made his second change of the game.

A minute later, Richie Wellens tried an incredible long-range effort to lob the goalkeeper, who hastily chased back and saved the audacious attempt.

Eriksson made his final change of the afternoon, with Steve Howard replacing Yakubu in the 88th minute as the Foxes ran down the clock towards victory.

Howard then fired a shot just past the near post in injury-time as City searched for a fifth goal. The final whistle signalled the end of a superb, entertaining game, with City deserving their victory, but were made to work hard for the three points.
