Outreach
The G-8 has a long tradition of working in partnership with African countries and others in the international community. This year, to ensure an informed global perspective, Canada has actively sought the input of partners by conducting a robust global outreach program. This has involved meeting with representatives of many countries in Asia, Europe, Africa and the Americas and the Caribbean that are not members of either the G-8 or the G-20 in order to solicit their views on the priorities for the summits.
The Muskoka 2010 G-8 Summit will include two outreach sessions on Friday, June 25.
African Outreach
The Government of Canada has extended invitations to Algeria, Egypt, Ethiopia, Malawi, Nigeria, Senegal and South Africa to attend the outreach session. Since 2001, African and G-8 countries have been engaged in dialogue with an aim to strengthen and promote international relations with Africa and to further social and economic development.

Extended Outreach
The second outreach session will involve G-8 leaders, African leaders and leaders from Colombia, Haiti and Jamaica. This special session will focus on shared security concerns such as the rise of transnational crime and its growing links to terrorist activities.
