Sankara Pillai's collection of essays released

Poet K. G. Sankara Pillai addressesa G. Sankara Pillai memorial function in Thrissur on Tuesday.

Thrissur: ‘Samvidhayaka Sankalpam', a collection of essays written by G. Sankara Pillai, was released at a function held at Kerala Sahitya Akademi's Vyloppilly Hall on Tuesday.

Poet K. G. Sankara Pillai handed over the first copy of the book to theatre worker G. Gangadharan Nair at the function organised by Rangachethana. The book was a collection of writings by Sankara Pillai on different aspects of theatre.

Academic M.V. Narayanan delivered the 22nd G. Sankara Pillai Memorial Lecture at the function.

He said Pillai had borrowed techniques from traditional theatre to evolve a training pattern for practitioners of modern theatre.

Mr. Narayanan also spoke on ‘Noh', classical Japanese dance theatre.
