18th June 2010: A date to be remembered for migrant women's rights in Europe!

Three and a half years after the EWL seminar ‘Equal Rights. Equal Voices. Migrant women in the European Union’, migrant women's organisations are meeting again in Brussels on 18 June 2010 to officially launch the European Network of Migrant women. Many of the organisations now members of the network met for the first time at the January 2007EWL seminar. At the time, besides agreeing on many policy recommendations to ensure migrant women’s rights in Europe, these organisations also decided it was time to directly address policy-makers at the European level. This wish was taken up by the EWL, since then working with them towards this ambitious but crucial goal in a European context where migrants’ voices are barely heard by the media and policy-makers.
