Report: GUNS N' ROSES' Guatemala Concert Cancelled Due To Poor Ticket Sales - Apr. 13, 2010
According to the Nuestro Diario newspaper, GUNS N' ROSES' April 13, 2010 concert in Guatemala City, Guatemala was cancelled due to poor ticket sales.

"I feel sad and helpless in this situation," Pedro Michelena, the president of the company in charge of the event, Success Music Entertainment, told the newspaper. "We know that thousands of Guatemalans had the intention of seeing GUNS N' ROSES."

GUNS N' ROSES was scheduled to play a single concert tonight at Estadio El Ejército, which has a capacity of more than 15,000, but only about 3,000 tickets had been sold ahead of the event, according to the paper.

Concert organizers said in a statement that they will announce within 72 hours how ticket holders can go about getting a refund.

As previously reported, GUNS N' ROSES' April 9, 2010 concert at Estadio Ricardo Saprissa in San Jose, Costa Rica was cancelled due to a faulty stage setup. The production agency 28 Producciones, which was in charge of the event, sent out an apologetic email to fans and members of the press. The email assured ticket-holding fans that they would be reimbursed and that all inquiries should be referred to the web page 28producciones.com.

Makes good sense to me. There are very few groups I would go without food for an extended period to see, and Guns N' Axl is not one of them. And really, who would want to starve to death at all for anything. But, whatever. Whatever the reason, THAT WAS A TERRIBLE ALBUM YOU PUT OUT AS GN'R AXL !! Fucking terrible after that many years. I'm amazed anyone would buys tickets at all after that!

why couldn't they just play a smaller venue??
To give the people what they paid for??
Or hows about lower ticket prices.. I know thats reaching these days..

where are you Axlites now? I hate to be the typical guy piling on Axl, but I have to point out its not even the US that's not buying into this. I was once a huge fan of this guys up til about, 1990, then he lost his integrity, he became a parody.

Its simply a joke, and the initial intrigue of this Chin Dem that was 87 yaers in the making, thats' all gone(after about 2 weeks), and really, if it is a good album, then go out with your new band, don't call it fuckin' GnR cuz it aint, play theaters, and show up to play on the same calendar day, and that's cool.

Ok, you hate Slash, don't want to play that style music, Axl wants to play Korn-esc/Shred music, fine, really. I'd hate to see that band reform for a greatest hits tour, with no creative means to the end. But after hearing all this "the US don't get it, haters", no, there's just NO meat on the bone. He's got good players, technically, but that's not what GnR was about.

BTW, while people were saying "slash can't write", Axl was GnR, Slash has just released not just a good album, but amazing. well written album. Creative. with Axl's old fire, and creativity, its too bad he's wasting his time with a revolving door of players, wasted 15 years, and a great band, Gone. Its over today of course.

mark my words, this will pummel what's left of Axl's confidence. His insecurities are going to rear their ugly heads as they did in 2002 when he bailed, and went back into the hiding, band members dropping off like flies. (Dizzy Reed the exception). It was great knowing you DJ, Bumblehead, Bucketfoot, Stinson, there'll be a whole new band in 2022 when he tours again.

yah. no shit man. so much hate for one dude. the guy's made mistakes for sure. Shouldn't matter anymore because it's in the past. the Toronto 2010 show kicked some serious ass. I was there. Best Rock and Roll show I've seen in a very long time. Much better than NickelCrack or any other so-called big-name rock band. It is what it is. Axl and Slash should've both been bigger men and stopped feuding a long time ago and just worked together making music. Obviously that's not the case. Pretty sad. Can't blame one guy for it though.

You guy's are just hilarious. 2 cancelled dates and you all jump on Axl again like a bunch of vultures. What about the rest of the tour? Can you tell us something about that, are isn't it cool enough to talk about how succesfull the tour already is? They played multiple times for a packed arena without any incidents.(this tour they already played in front of more than 200.000 people) Axl isn't responsible for these 2 dates. I'm not 100% sure why the Guatemala show got cancelled ( i've readed several different reasons) but i do know that the Costa Rica show got cancelled because of an unsafe stage set up. Next time you wanna ramble those nonsens again take the time to inform yourself.

Lorn nailed it. Extreme poverty and machete-weilding street urchins make it a less-than-optimal place to be on any given day. Awesome place to get murdered, who the fuck would want to go to that toilet of a country on a GOOD day? The avg. monthly income is barely a couple dollars, but you guys want to goof on Asshole Rose for poor ticket sales, that's smart.

We're talking about Guatemala, they starve there, let alone go to a rock show. I'm impressed they would even consider go there on tour, since the end of it was really predictable (poor ticket sales). I guess it's the intention that counts, so respect.

Oh btw, I don't really like GNR, musicwise.

of course you can blame one guy for it, seems all the other guys left, they got fed up with it, not just Slash. Every band they ever toured with, media, anyone in contact with Axl all said the same, he's a major insecure prima donna. So he's going to get heaps of shit from former fans that he STILL pisses on by cancelling, showing late, releasing material once every 20 years. Where's the payoff being a fan?

yes, Guatemala is poor. So are a lot of the places they just played, but they are enthusiastic concert goers...and the "GnR is the highest selling band of the year", let's see if that holds up playing in the US, or even Europe, supporting a limp album, and performed by the latest shred guitarist, playing Slash riffs. Axl doesn't know if he's coming or going. These band members don't have any say, can't speak up, don't even know if they'll be around come next leg of the tour....the wheels are coming off an already unstable wagon.

You guys don't know much about Central America. You images of it are still rooted in the 1980s when there was warfare and poverty everywhere. Central America has become a prime retirement, vacation and second-home destination form Americans and Europeans. Places like Guatamala, Honduras, Costa Rica and Panama are filled with Gringo Dollars and Euros and construction is booming. Sure, there's still a large underclass in these nations, but there is also a rapidly growing middle class as well. This show didn't bomb because the nation's too poor. It bombed because not enough people wanted to see Axl & Posers.

fantastic counterpoint, I want you in my corner, great volley back. You should work as a rock debater. Throw downs, Axl/GnR vs. Slash. Go!

I will keep my eye on that. Or look at past bands to go through Guatemala...personally, I wouldn't care if Axl was a success, or put out a great Chin Dem. I'd have bought & listened alot if I found it any good, so I'm not a hater....I don't get why people, even hard core Axl fans, hate Slash? He was a major ingredient in what made GnR so great, & I'll include Axl in that to boot. It was the whole mix, which Axl obviously is lacking now...but what did Slash do other than bring great riffs to the band, and general hard rockin' public. No Slash, No Welcome to the Jungle.

Dudes, there is no hating on one guy here, people are just stating the obvious. GNR is a has been band, Axl and his prima donna attitude is costing the "band" (if you can call it that) their last few remaining fans. I'm still a hardcore fan but not of this Axl Rose thing, the old GNR...the guys that used kick some major ass around the world when I was a teenager! The guys that used to open a concert for 60.000 people with: you know where the fuck you are? you are in the jungle baby, time to die! Those guys, not this little number Axl has been trying to push down everybody's throat as GNR. There is a bunch of idiots here saying stuff like "theye are starving over there that's why they had poor ticket sales" Man, grab a damn book or even Google it for fuck's sake so you all don't sound like a bunch of ignorant rednecks...I live in Costa Rica now and believe me...if the band rocks, people will go see it. Look at Metallica and their previous concert here a couple months ago, 28.000 tickets sold in one day, ONE DAY! There was no faulty stage here, just poor ticket sales. We are smart enough spot a rip off when we see one! and what was all that bullshit about Axl flying in on a separate private plane and sending the "other guys" on commercial? Still shows that he thinks he is the band, man is he wrong! The chemistry is gone, the true band is gone and his voice? well, almost gone. He should save it to make a documentary on how a real band USED to rock the fuck out and maybe these punks today will learn something from it. GNR today? a HAS BEEN frontman and a bunch of average musicians that just want to get paid playing somebody else's music.

true, that!....you can't change key members of huge bands and have it remain that band, you can't take Keith Richards from the Stones & call it the Stones, Hetfield from Metallica, and so on, people won't buy into it, Slash is the same. and it WAS that chemistry which made them a great band....the chemistry dried up maybe, so its over. GnR is dead, 1985-1993.
