Greater comfort for families on the move.
To make travelling on InterCity (IC, and ICN tilting trains) a more comfortable
experience for passengers with young children in pushchairs, family zones are being introduced in 2nd
class on these services. The main goal of these zones is to provide space for pushchairs.
The family zone.
The family zone can be found in the so-called driving trailer at the front or the
rear of a train. The family zone provides space for pushchairs (see below). In addition, from the timetable
change, we will be fitting game boards to the side tables. The pieces you need to play these games can
be obtained (as of March 2010) from the SBB Minibar for just CHF 2.
Family zones will be gradually phased in, starting with the introduction
of the new timetable on 13 December 2009.
Where is the family zone?
- InterCity double-deck train: on the upper level of the driving
trailer
- InterCity single-deck train: in the driving trailer
- InterCity tilting train: in coach no. 7 (driving trailer), and in
double train sets also in coach no. 17 (driving trailer).
Where
can you park your pushchair?
InterCity double-deck train: on the lower level of the driving
trailer (door width from vestibule into main carriage: 71 cm).
InterCity single-deck train: in the driving trailer
(door width from vestibule into main carriage: 80 cm).
InterCity tilting train: in coach no. 7 (driving
trailer), and in double train sets also in coach no. 17 (driving trailer), (door width from vestibule
into main carriage: 71 cm) Parking spaces for pushchairs will gradually phased in from 13 December 2009.
Family coaches: continue to be in service.
