Tuesday Roundup

Question: What's it like to be trans?
Answer: Picture, like, superhero vampire Jesus.

Hey all!

Today's been a bit of an off day here at DP. Google Analytics tells me that all of my stats are way down - hits, views, time on site, and pages visited - from just yesterday! and I'm not sure what the deal is! Bloggers, is this an across-the-board trend? Hopefully things will be back to normal tomorrow.

Anyway, here are today's links!

Daisy gets her rant on as only she can in this post on health care.

Women who fetishize the friendship of gay men are taken to task in this Feministing post. Also recommended is Amanda Marcotte's take at Pandagon.

Dodai breaks down how Meryl Streep is single-handedly saving the economy.

Laura discusses the virgin/whore double standard, as embodied by Paris Hilton and Audrey Hepburn.

Lateisha Green's murderer was sentenced to 25 years in jail today for manslaughter and hate crimes. Monica of TransGriot has the details.

Thanks for the link! As I said via Twitter, I think the dip might be an across the board thing. Maybe with the end of summer coming people haven't been able to devote as much attention to blogs...I don't know...but hopefully it picks back up!

It's just so odd - there were an abundance of comments last week, and now, nothing!

Maybe my comment karma is kicking me in the ass...

From experience, I try not to check my stats on a daily basis. If I sense there's been a drop in comments or general feedback, I might check it at the end of the week. But usually, I just wait to check it at the end of the month.

Otherwise, I just start freaking out about it and get stressed. Usually, if a dip lasts a month, then I know I need to get on my grind. Otherwise, it's usually something outside of my control and worrying about it is pointless.

Those are my two cents, but y'all can carry on this way if you'd like lol. =)

FSB, that is an excellent point! Unfortunately I'm a little compulsive...

I'm on Wordpress, so Iduno if that makes a difference, but Tuesdays and Wednesdays tend to be "down" days. And I agree with the above commenter-- I'm a little compulsive about checking stats too, but I try not to check them until the end of the week. It's a good way to get feedback, but not to let the stats rule my posting habits.
