CRADLE OF FILTH: New Album Title Revealed - Aug. 3, 2010
British extreme metallers CRADLE OF FILTH have set "Darkly Darkly Venus Aversa" as the title of their new album, due in North America on November 9 via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD will be issued in Europe on October 22 through Peaceville Records on the band's own AbraCadaver imprint.

CRADLE OF FILTH — consisting of Dani Filth on vocals, Paul Allender and James McIlroy on guitar, David Pybus on bass, Martin Skaroupka on drums and Ashley Ellyllon on keyboards — recently entered Monkey Puzzle studios near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk to start work on the follow-up to 2008's "Godspeed On The Devil's Thunder".

CRADLE OF FILTH remain stalwarts to the satanic horror ethos by again composing a full-blown concept album, this time based on Adam's first wife, the lascivious Demoness Lilith; throwing Medieval nuns, Knights Templars, Greek mythology and lashings of sex, occult lore and violent bloodshed into the smelting pot, to create a darkly erotic nightmare set to their unique scope of supreme vampyric metal. For this release, the band wanted mastery of their own destiny, choosing to release the album on their very own AbraCadaver label in conjunction with Peaceville Records, home to such illicit luminaries as DARKTHRONE, KATATONIA, MY DYING BRIDE, BLOODBATH and GALLHAMMER, among many others. Vocalist Dani Filth has described the move as being "a choice to move away from the artistic restrictions/mindless inhibitions imposed by dwelling on a major label" and cites the current financial clime as "the perfect opportunity to start doing things our own way again, with the added benefit of being a far bigger fish in a proverbial pool, surrounded by people who have been handpicked to get the job best done. And more importantly... who still are hungry for the taste of music."

Having recently published the long-awaited "Gospel Of Filth" grimoire of all things ghastly and ghoulish, the band will finish the new album, undertake its heavy press schedule and then embark on a full world tour in its support.

'All Hallows Eve'? They changed the name because the release date is AFTER Halloween?

The old title was better. This one just solidifies their trend of working towards cheesier titles I guess....

What happened to All Hallows Eve? That was a clever double entendre of a title.

The last one was great, I hope Andy Sneap also produces this. Godspeed was the best-produced (+ really solid material) COF album since Dusk, not overproduced, and not a shit sandwitch like Cruelty and the Beast (great material, terrible production. St. Anger owns that record).

My favorite band, hands down. Every album clearly demonstrates a concerted effort to pave a new path even if it isolates loyal fans. Lyrics are always superb and production seems to be getting better with each record. can't wait...

COMMENT | "All Hallow's Eve" was a much better title...

They should've at least made the title "Darkly Venus Aversa" instead of repeating the word Darkly twice, that doesn't even make sense!

Oh well, the last album was a step in the right direction. I still doubt they'll ever reach the quality of "Dusk" & "Cruelty" (the production isn't bad at all, so what the drums are a little off, otherwise it sounds great!).

They don't even have any of the other band members besides Dani from that time period, so it's almost impossible to conceive them attaining that quality with their current lineup.

I'm still waiting to hear something on par with "Damnation" and "Midian". I wasn't a fan of "Godspeed;" but still, I'm excited to hear the new album.

Well, this is going to be a concept album, and it seems to me like the new title is more appropriate to the concept. Both are kind of cheese-dick titles if you ask me. BUT they are my all-time favorite band so i'm psyched about a new album no matter what it's called.

I think Bring Me The Horizon's new disc has the better title and I don't even like that band much.

"In October 2010, on 'All Hallows Eve', the latest chapter of the band’s dark history is to be released through Peaceville Records on the band’s own AbraCadaver imprint."

that's the exact statement of the band some time ago...so I was really surprised to see later in every media to call new album 'All Hallows Eve', when that sentence was refering to release date as Halloween!
so, I guess you're all faked by your beloved journalists :P
and I love album title...so bizzare, so sexy, so twisted, as the character of Lilith indeed is!
