Biography

Once a student herself driven by a powerful proposition that you cannot belittle or shame anyone into changing their behavior, Dr. Brene Brown has since become a nationally renowned lecturer, educationalist, author and devoted wife and mother. Her time spent as a clinician allowed her to focus her studies on how women use shame and the consequences of shame being used as a means to change a person's behavior.

Dr. Brown is a member of the research faculty at the Graduate College of Social Work, University of Houston, where she recently completed a six-year study of shame and its impact on women and men. In her book "I Thought It Was Just Me." She demonstrates the ways in which shame is present in the shadows of our psyches; from our mental and physical health and body image, to our relationships with our parents, kids, money and work. She currently resides in Houston, TX where she continues her research with shame and the force it has on our lives.
