| | Rowy - mekka of naturismROWY. Rowy - The first remarks about it stem from 1282, about fifty five years earlier than Ustka. It is claimed to have been one of the Witalski Brothers' hideouts, pirates who later were wrecked by a fleet of the Teutonic knights.
The church in Rowy is made of post-glacial stones (1843), with a built-in front elevation a 'black stone'. According to a legend, the stone foresees the weather (e.g. it becomes wet before a storm).
Two former churches (from before 1590 and 1750) stood on a hill closer to the lake. In the fourteenth century, later the king of England, Henry Derby Lancaster visited the place. A cruel king of Sweden, Gustaw Adolfs ghost, may have frightened there. A cemetery was situated on the hill up to the midtwentieth century, where sea shipwrecked people were buried, such as Swedes, the Dutch, the French, and even Arabs in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. For instance, Kashubian parson Jarke lies there (the onset of the 18th c.)., a grandfather of famous Prussian Marshal Yorck who considerably contrubuted to Napoleon's failure in 1812. Yorck pretended that he did not come from Rowy, but descended from English dukes of York.
