Dr Ghazi Abdul Rahman Algosaibi the Saudi labor minister on Sunday died in hospital after a long illness. He was 70. He was a well-known intellectual belonging to the Al Gosaibi family, one of the leading business families in the kingdom. He was close to King Abdullah.

Algosaibi received treatment for several months in an American hospital, then returned to Bahrain a month ago and moved to the King Faisal Specialist Hospital in the Saudi capital. 

Dr Algosaibi attended the University of Cairo and received his Law degree in 1961. Dr Algosaibi moved to the United States where he completed his MA in international relations from the University of Southern California in 1964. and he obtained his PhD in Law from the University of London1970.

He served as ambassador to Bahrain from 1984 to 1992; ambassador to United Kingdom and Ireland 1992 to 2002; Minister of Water since 2002, when the Ministry, created in 2001, became effective, and of Water and Electricity when renamed in May 2003; Minister of Labor since April, 2004.
