Group of three bronze sculptures: standing male wearing boots and overalls, holding a newspaper in right hand, leaning against railings looking at woman who is seated on railings with her left arm outstretched looking out over the water, holding shoe in lap in right hand. Seated dog at her feet.
Cardiff Bay Arts Trust was established in 1990 as part of a policy on public art set out by Cardiff Bay Development Corporation. Over the first decade CBAT has worked with public institutions, private corporations and with the local community to enrich the experience for those who visit, live and work in the area. Following the wind up of CBDC, Cardiff Bay Arts Trust became CBAT The Arts & Regeneration Agency and continues to operate UK wide and internationally.
Taken from 'The Bay and other Artwalks': 'The sculptor chose to celebrate the people who live and work locally and whose roots are in the Bay. "I wanted to make something that somehow 'gave a voice' to those people ..". The woman reflects the diverse cultural and ethnic mix of the docks. In his boots and overalls, the man is a reminder of this once busy port. The dog is for children and dogs to enjoy.'
