Recently, our Call of Duty 4 team made their way to Auckland, NZ to compete at xLAN. xLAN is New Zealand's biggest LAN event all year, and also hosts their World Cyber Games Qualifiers. This year had plenty more games than just the standard WCG lot, including our boys competing in the Creative CoD4 Cup as well as MSI sponsoring the WCG Warcraft 3 qualifier! Check out the video below to see what the boys got up to over the weekend!

Today is the FINALS of the ArchaicMSI QuakeCon Qualifier!
The winner of today's event books themself a return ticket to QuakeCon in Texas, USA - with paid accomodation and a 6 month contract with ArchaicMSI Esports. The contract includes an MSI GT740 for use during the trip, as well as the Fatal1ty approved SoundBLASTER Arena Surround USB Headset to help them game at their peak while on tour in the USA.
The finalists for today are Nomey, Rep, Zenaku, Dandaking, zlr and Ventz. Good luck to all the boys, and we'll see who remains are 5pm today, AEST!
MSI R5870 Lightning & 890FXA-GD70 From scratch, custom engineering at it’s finest!
Recently, the ArchaicMSI office was blessed with a few tastes of MSI's product line. We've had the fantastic GT740 Gaming Notebook, built with supercharged i7 technology, and today we got to play with the 890FXA-GD70 Motherboard and a fantastic PCI Express graphics card, the R5870 Lightning!
The first that I got my hands on was the MSI R5870 Lightning graphics card. This is a card designed for the enthusiast, and it's quite noticeable the second you get it out of the box. The entire thing has been designed from scratch! Initially I thought that only the GPU would be "pure", but MSI have even made a few changes (for the better) on that front as well. The PCB (stands for Printed Circuit Board, the "backbone" of the card) is a slick black finish as the beginning of the customisation and it goes on through all components and finishes with the awe inspiring Twin Frozr II cooler.
Today we are graced with the GGCEVO One Day Competition (invite). Run by GotGames, this is a 32 team single elimination competition, in which anyone can apply, but only 32 of the applicants will be invited. This competition sees entries of the likes of Team Immunity, Redemption, Fray, Artiface, our own ArchaicMSI team [geronimo, digz, padz, sai, SnakeWOW] and quite a few others.
Starting at 10:00 AM this morning was Round 1 of the groups stage. The 32 teams were split into 8 groups of 4, with ArchaicMSI drawing a group of ep0c, Misery and nyotic. Our boys were well prepared for groups and managed to take them out convincingly;
Now we venture out of the groups stage and into the single elimination bracket. Wish our boys luck as they progress throughout the day, and if you're keen to spectate, uou can find the SourceTV details updated per round here: GG Forums (Thanks to Hucky)

Today we announce the arrival of our latest addition to the ArchaicMSI gaming squad; evilMonkeys (eM). eM have been a team that's not only stuck together for quite a while; but a force to be reckoned with in Australian Counter-Strike:Source in 2010. They started the year with a few small lan wins (Elysium QGaming Event pictured above), and now nearing halfway through the year have won 1 premier division, and narrowly missed taking 1st in the other. The team has now joined the ranks of ArchaicMSI to allow their growth and LONGEVITY as a team, and now take on the support of both MSI & SoundBLASTER to aid them in their gaming future.
Michael "snakewOw~" Hall had this to say; "It is unfortunate that we have chosen to leave sqL, but the opportunity for the guys was just too good to give up. I must say a huge thank you to the sqL management for being understanding and allowing us to take this opportunity."
ArchaicMSI CS:S is;
Todd "geronimo" Henderson Christian "digz" Cheung Michael "snakewOw~" Hall Aaron "sai" Ward Joshua "padz" LePlastrier
Additionally, today we make one more alteration to the gaming squads, with the former ArchaicMSI CS:S Squad moving to Counter-Strike 1.6. With the departure of Luke "Havoc" Paton and Steven "stv" Cropper; making a new Source team would require not only deforming the professional division by destroying teams, but also perhaps limit an opportunity for others to shine. With that in mind, Scott "Boomser" Bednarski and Mike "APOC" Aliferis have together formed the first 1.6 division for ArchaicMSI.
ArchaicMSI CS 1.6 is;
Scott "Boomser" Bednarski Mike "APOC" Aliferis Soren "SOREN" Larssen Emir "EK" Keser Daniel "MSE" Anderson
The 1.6 team has only a few days to practice for the 1.6 Elysium Community Nationals Qualifier in Sydney on the weekend; and while we aren't expecting big things right off the bat, we wish the boys much luck in their ambitions for 2010!
