Applications from foreign nationals to be naturalised as British citizens are considered under the provisions of the British Nationality Act 1981 but involve amongst other things a period of residence in the Isle of Man, United Kingdom or any of the Channel Islands of 5 years or 3 years if the applicant is married to a British citizen.
