Welcome to the Rhythm Road 2011-2012 application process.

Our ensembles are chosen from a national pool of candidates in a highly competitive two-part selection process. Applications received by the mandated deadline are first reviewed in a blind screening by an independent panel of leading musician-educators. Selected groups are invited to live auditions for a second independent panel, including respected musician-educators and representatives from the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Each season, ten ensembles are selected to tour on the Rhythm Road.

January 16–18, 2011
Audition in NYC (Ensembles must be available during this period)

January 20–21, 2011
Audition in New Orleans (Ensembles must be available during this period)

Announcement of finalist ensembles for the 2011/12 Rhythm Road: American Music Abroad season

April–June 2011 & September 2011–February 2012
Finalist ensembles perform domestically and embark on international tours
