Meet John Boozman
Congressman John Boozman, a successful businessman and life-long resident of Arkansas, represents the Third District of Arkansas in the House of Representatives.
After graduating Northside High School in Fort Smith, Boozman played football at the University of Arkansas while completing his pre-optometry requirements. He graduated from the Southern College of Optometry in 1977 and entered private practice that same year in Northwest Arkansas as co-founder of Boozman Eye Clinic, which became the Boozman-Hof Regional Eye Clinic in 1981.
Congressman Boozman served two terms on the Rogers School Board serving one of the largest school districts in the state. He volunteered for many years at the Arkansas School for the Blind in Little Rock, where he began the low vision program. He was also very involved at the Poplar House Clinic, an area clinic which provides medical services to low income families.
Sworn in on November 28, 2001, Boozman was elected to fill the vacant seat for the Third District of Arkansas in the United States House of Representatives.
Boozman currently serves on the House Veterans Affairs Committee. He is also a member of the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Policy Committee.

Among Boozman’s legislative accomplishments is the passage of provisions he authored to combat the spread of methamphetamine.
In January 2007, Boozman was named as an assistant whip for the Republican Whip Team. As an assistant whip, Boozman will be responsible for helping House Republican Whip Roy Blunt of Missouri and Chief Deputy Republican Whip Eric Cantor of Virginia work with Republican leaders to manage GOP legislation on the House floor.
Boozman, 57, is married to the former Cathy Marley. The couple has three daughters.
