A Conversation With Musician Steve Earle And Historian Douglas Brinkley

Steve Scher
08/05/2010 at 10:00 a.m.

Steve Earle was raised in Texas, lived in Tennessee. Now he's living in Greenwich Village — on the same block Bob Dylan made famous on the cover of his album "Freewheelin." Today, hear Earle play in the KUOW performance studio. Then historian Douglas Brinkley talks about Teddy Roosevelt, the "Naturalist President." Many beautiful places in the Northwest still exist because of him. Find out which places could have been mined or cut for timber.

Guest(s)

Steve Earle has recorded 16 albums and released 8 compilation CDs. His recent album "Washington Square Serenade" won a Grammy award. His newest album "Townes" is a follow up to that record.

Douglas Brinkley is a professor of history at Rice University and a contributing editor at Vanity Fair. Six of his books have been selected as New York Times Notable Books of the Year. His book, "The Great Deluge," won the Robert F. Kennedy Book Award. His latest book is "The Wilderness Warrior: Theodore Roosevelt and the Crusade for America."
