Ascend Health Acquires Behavioral Hospital of Bellaire, Texas
New York, NY. August 18, 2010 – Ascend Health Corporation announced today the acquisition of the Behavioral Hospital of Bellaire, TX, a 70-bed inpatient psychiatric hospital facility. The acquisition carries the option to expand into 45,000 contiguous square feet on the property. The Behavioral Hospital of Bellaire currently provides inpatient, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient psychiatric and chemical dependency services.

Ascend Health Corporation has announced the construction of two 120 bed facilities located in Phoenix, Arizona and in Salt Lake City, Utah. The anticipated opening dates are scheduled for the Fall of 2010.

Ascend Health to Open a Psychiatric Hospital in Phoenix, AZ
Ascend Health Corporation has begun construction on what will be a state of the art 122 bed private psychiatric hospital in the heart of Phoenix, AZ. The freestanding psychiatric hospital, Valley Hospital, is projected to open in the second half of 2010.

According to Tom Rourke, Vice President of Development “Ascend has chosen to enter the Phoenix market because of the significant bed shortage we see relative to other metropolitan areas. The opening of Valley Hospital will be a compliment to the current services available in Phoenix and the surrounding communities."

The hospital will provide comprehensive and specialized mental health, detoxification, and chemical dependency treatment. The facility will be licensed by the Arizona Department of Health Services. It will be also accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, the nation’s predominant standard-setting and accrediting body.

Portland Opens Only Free-Standing Psychiatric Hospital in Oregon
Cedar Hills Hospital Designed to Meet Critical Need for Services

AscendHealth Corporation (Texas) is proud to announce the opening of Cedar Hills Hospital at 10300 SW Eastridge Street.  The only free-standing psychiatric hospital in the state, Cedar Hills is a comfortable and healing environment where psychiatrists and clinical staff use their specialized skills and expertise to provide premiere mental healthcare and addictions treatment.  According to Cedar Hills CEO Shanti Carter, “The physical environment here isn’t at all institutional – it’s very inviting and welcoming.  Our layout enables us to develop specialty programs to individualize patients’ treatment.” 

 “Everything we do is about what is best for patients,” Carter continued.  “When you open a new hospital, you have the opportunity to do it right from the start.  Our goal is to do the right things for the right reasons.”

The hospital will provide treatment for adults 18 years and older who are in need of comprehensive and specialized mental health, detoxification, and chemical dependency treatment.  It is licensed by the Department of Human Services – Oregon Public Health Division.  It is also accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, the nation’s predominant standard-setting and accrediting body.

Herschel WalkerHeisman Trophy Winner, Herschel Walker played professional football in the NFL for the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants, and Minnesota Vikings. Walker recently wrote a book entitled, “Breaking Free” a memoir of Walker’s struggle with Dissociative Identity Disorder. Walker has a desire to help those who have been diagnosed with a mental illness or have substance abuse problems. His goal is to help those who are struggling to accept this reality realize, "There is no shame in admitting you have a problem, I did!"

Ascend Health announces the opening of NorthPointe Family Center in Carrolton, Texas. NorthPointe is a freestanding building providing partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient services for children and adolescents in the day. The youth program can accommodate approximately 65 patients. In addition, the facility has a separate area that allows special chemical dependency programming for adults in the evening. ASCEND HEALTH RAISES $20.1 MILLION SERIES B FINANCING

New funds to accelerate development of de novo psychiatric hospitals in markets with significant psychiatric bed need

New York, NY, March 26, 2007. Ascend Health Corporation, an operator of mental health and chemical dependency hospitals and residential treatment centers, today announced the closing of a $20.1 million Series B financing. The Company intends to use the proceeds to fund the development of new psychiatric hospitals. New investor Polaris Venture Partners led the round and was joined by existing investors CHL Medical Partners, Three Arch Partners and individual investors. In connection with the closing, Brian Chee, General Partner at Polaris Venture Partners, will join Ascend Health’s board of directors.

"Ascend is well positioned to respond to markets with significant needs for additional psychiatric treatment facilities," stated Mr. Chee. "Dr. Kresch and his management team have shown an ability to identify markets with unmet demand and to respond to that demand with facilities that provide not only general adult and adolescent psychiatric services, but programs that match the particular needs of the community."

January 11, 2007 - Steve Page joined Ascend Health Corporation as Chief Financial Officer. Steve left Goldman Sachs, New York, N.Y., where he was a Vice President in investment banking. Steve spent seven years at Goldman working in the healthcare Mergers and Acquisitions advisory and leveraged finance groups. He earned his MBA from Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia in 2000 and graduated in 1994 from the University of Texas at Austin earning a Bachelor Business Administration degree in Finance. He earned a Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1998.

His primary responsibilities include identifying, negotiating and closing new business opportunities for the company, debt and equity fundraising and Company presentations to the investment community.
