WCW Nitro Flashback Report
September 25, 2010
Uniondale, N.Y.
Report by Wade Keller, PWTorch editor
[Q1: 2.7]... The show opened with a (spoof) feature centered around Russo's dream of becoming WCW Champion narrated by "Russo lackey Jeremy Borash"... Russo stepped out of a limo and Borash gave him a pep talk. Russo told Borash to shut up. Borash told everyone to shhhh!... The Nitro opening montage aired... Tony Schiavone, Scott Hudson, and Mark Madden introduced the program... (1) Big Vito beat Johnny the Bull by DQ at 4:10. They showed Vito's younger sister Maria in the front row. They hit each other with kendo sticks until Reno interfered and attacked Vito. Maria got in the ring to protect Vito from more punishment... Borash pep-talked Russo backstage... [C]...
[Q2: 3,3]... The announcers hyped Russo-Booker... Video aired of David Flair looking for the father of Miss Hancock's baby. He looked up the father's address in a phone book. (He found the name near the middle of the phone book, for what it's worth - and it took him only three page turns to find it. Pretty efficient!)... Jeff Jarrett and Scott Steiner came to the ring. Steiner bad-mouthed the Jets and Giants and pointed out Jet's offensive lineman "Jumbo" Elliot in the crowd. Steiner claimed he ran Goldberg out of wrestling. Russo came out with Borash and kissed the floor of the arena. He said there's no place like Long Island. He ran down some great athletes from the past and compared himself to them. The crowd reacted with mixed indifference for all but the plugs for Long Island. Russo then turned on the crowd and said he now calls his home Atlanta. He said in Atlanta they have NASCAR, the Bulldogs, cousins making babies with cousins, and John Rocker. Russo told Rocker to "ride our seven train right here" and pointed to his crotch. Booker and Sting popped up on the big screen. Sting told Russo to look behind him. Goldberg appeared in the stands. Madden cried that Goldberg's presence could "ruin everything"... [C]... Mike Sanders told Kronik that Russo took them out of the tag team battle royal because he was upset with them...
[Q3: 3.5]... (2) Jindrak & O'Haire won the WCW Tag Team Titles in a battle royal also involving Rey Mysterio Jr. & Juventud Guerrera (w/Konnan), Young Dragons, The Harris Boys, Three Count, and Lt. Loco & Cpl. Cajun at 9:10. Konnan said Kronik were taken out of the match because they cure insomnia. Kronik interfered anyway. Security came out and sprayed Kronik with mace... [C]... Kevin Nash, with Jindrak & O'Haire, interrupted Gene Okerlund's interview with Howard Stern's Whack Pack who were judging the swimsuit competition. He said Okerlund should be interviewing the new tag champs instead... Insane Clown Posse challenged Mike Awesome to a hardcore match two-on-one. Madden took a shot at Violent J for cutting a "70's style promo"...
[Q4: 3.4]... (3) Mike Awesome beat ICP at 2:07 by beating them up on his '70s bus... [C]... David Flair stopped at a Chuck E. Cheese restaurant and insisted workers tell him where "he" is. David ran into the kids ball pit to "find him"... The Cat came to the ring and told Madden he "hates his fat ass." Cat said if Steiner or Jarrett enter the ring in the main event, he would fire them. Sanders came out and told Cat that he has taken it upon himself to make sure Cat doesn't screw up Russo's plan. Cat gave Sanders the finger in full view of a close-up. Nash sent the Thrillers to the ring to attack Cat. They attacked Cat one at a time and Cat flattened each of them until Sanders hit him from behind with a bat. Nash applauded as the Thrillers attacked Cat... Gene and Pamela m.c'd the bikini contest consisting of Chae, Chiquita, Torrie Wilson, Tigress, Paisley, Leah Meow, and Major Gunns ...
[Q5: 3.1]... Hacksaw Duggan came out when Gunns revealed a U.S. flag bikini. Duggan dragged her away wrapped in a Canadian flag. The Whack Pack picked Pamela as the winner even though she wasn't officially in the contest. Leah threatened to beat up Pamela. Midajah came out and slammed Meow. Meow kicked her. End of bikini contest... Mike Tenay interviewed Scott Steiner and again claimed he drove Goldberg out of WCW. Goldberg jumped Steiner from behind... [C]... Disqo Inferno came to the ring and said he had a new tag team partner. Scott Steiner came out. Disqo didn't look pleased. Steiner knocked Disqo out of the ring and called Goldberg out. Goldberg stepped onto the stage and said he would gladly take on Steiner in an impromptu cage match. Steiner tried to flee the ring area, but Goldberg caught up to him as he climbed the ring barrier into the crowd. He choked him with a cable at the announcing table, then dragged him into the ring. The cage lowered around them.
[Q6: 2.2]... (4) Goldberg beat Scott Steiner at 4:38 in a cage. At 1:00 Steiner took over with a low blow and a belly-to-belly. At 3:00 Midajah slipped Steiner his lead pipe. Steiner nailed Goldberg with it and walked to the door, but security wouldn't open the door. Goldberg went back after Steiner. Back in the ring Goldberg ducked Steiner's pipe and rebounded with a spear... Pamela interviewed Booker regarding his match against Russo later. Booker said he had something up his sleeve to prevent Russo's friends from interfering. Booker told him to "save the trauma for his mama," and "don't hate the player, hate the game"... (5) Jeff Jarrett beat Gen. Rection. Hudson said Russo needs Jarrett to stay healthy so he can help him later during the main event. Lance Storm distracted the ref as Prime Time tried to interfere with a chair, but Rection fended off Skipper. Hacksaw Duggan then ran out and nailed Rection with a two-by-four. Jarrett finished off Rection and pinned him. MIA and Sting made the save...
[Q7: 2.1]... (6) Sting pinned Lance Storm. The match was in progress coming back from the break. Hudson said Storm's accusation that Sting's heart isn't in the business anymore couldn't be less true given his display in the ring. Storm reversed the Scorpion into the Maple Leaf in center ring. Sting eventually reached the ropes. Sting nailed Storm with an enziguiri and then finished Storm with a powerslam for a surprise clean three count. After his win, Sting retreated to the back as if he left something on the stove. Nice celebration with the fans, huh?... They went to David Flair arriving at somebody's house... [C]... Somehow during the break a camera ended up inside the house. A gray haired guy answered the door and wondered who David was and what he wanted. David wandered through the house. He said aloud the address he was looking for. The guy said David was one house off. Hudson said the address sounded familiar. As David pounded on the door, the neighbor said he had gone on vacation. David said he knows "he" did it and when "he" returns he'll be waiting for "him." The announcers didn't know whom "he" was... Okerlund inteviewed Russo backstage who was wearing a New York Giants jersey, helmet, and pads. He said the time for talking was over, he was going to walk out of his hometown with the WCW Title... Russo made his ring entrance...
[Q8: 2.7]... [C]... Jeremy Borash joined the announcing team at ringside... (7) Booker T fought Vince Russo to a no decision at 9:20 in a WCW Title match in a cage. Booker entered the ring at which point Russo took a bat out of his pants. Russo went to work on Booker with the bat. Awesome, MIA, Filthy Animals, and others came to ringside to watch the match. Russo pulled out a ladder and opened a segment of the roof of the cage. Sting rapelled from the roof and dropped down to prevent Russo from escaping and prevent others from entering. Russo dropped to the mat. Booker took off Russo's helmet and punched him. Lex Luger walked out of the crowd and handed Russo a lead pipe. Russo used it against Booker. EMTs entered the ring to check on the fallen ref. One of the EMTs revealed himself as Ric Flair. Flair put Russo in the figure-four for only a second, then high-fived Booker. The NBTs ran to the ring and a brawl erupted at ringside with everyone. Booker gave Russo an axe kick and then signalled for him to get up. Russo didn't, so Booker lifted him, then nailed him with a wheel kick to the face of his helmet. Just as Booker was about to walk out of the cage, Goldberg's music played and he ran out. Booker didn't walk out of the cage for some reason. He waited for Goldberg. Goldberg entered the cage to get at Russo. As Booker was about to walk out finally, Steiner slammed the cage door in his face. Booker kicked it back at Steiner, then began to step out of the cage. Goldberg then speared Russo through the side of the cage, and Russo appeared to land on the floor just as, or a split second before, Booker stepped out. The show then ended...
