METALLICA: 'Live At Grimey's' EP Due In November - Oct. 6, 2010
METALLICA has issued the following update:

"Are you sick of us yet? We sure are!! However, we're here again to tell you about one more release, this one supporting our continued beating of the drums for independent record stores across the country with an exclusive EP available only through the network of approximately 700 U.S. retailers who support Record Store Day.

"We were honored to be part of the first ever annual event celebrating independently owned records stores, a.k.a. Record Store Day, with an in-store at Rasputin Music in Mountain View, California on April 19, 2008 and we're very proud to be a part of another special event with our friends at independent retail.

"The EP includes the nine songs we played the afternoon of June 12, 2008 in the basement at one of the coolest record stores in the nation, Grimey's in Nashville, Tennessee, and is part of the series of 'Live At Grimey's' releases.

"How did this show come about? In late spring of 2008, while we were finishing up 'Death Magnetic', we were also having fun playing a few shows including the Bonnarroo festival in Manchester, Tennessee. As fans of classic, old-school record stores, we knew we just had to visit Grimey's and they were kind enough to invite us to play in their 'basement' club for METALLICA fan-club members and a few friends. As we always do, we recorded the show... and now it comes to you CD and 10" vinyl in a gatefold jacket on 'Black Friday,' November 26.

"Support your local record store... there's a complete list of stores who will be carrying 'Live At Grimey's' here: MyMetalClub.com. The EP will also be available on Metallica.com and MetClub.com."

"Live At Grimey's" track listing:

01. No Remorse
02. Fuel
03. Harvester of Sorrow
04. Welcome Home (Sanitarium)
05. For Whom The Bell Tolls
06. Master of Puppets
07. Sad But True
08. Motorbreath
09. Seek And Destroy

Official Metallica.com video footage of METALLICA's "secret" June 12, 2008 performance at The Basement (Grimey's) in Nashville, Tennessee in front of an estimated 175 people can be viewed below.

Don't really need those anymore. I've purchased a few shows on their LiveMetallica.com which included the artwork for $10 each. Well worth it. I wish more acts offered this service but I understand why they don't. It's them live and raw. Most bands can't afford to do this and some wouldn't want to because they would be afraid for people to hear 'em raw!

Metallica has always been a great live band, vibe-wise, but they've never been the tightest live band, by their own admission. But...they're fucking Metallica, so they get away with it!

How amazing would it be to see them in that kinda setting, playing that setlist?!?!?!

Does anyone else find it odd that this EP is to support your local independent record stores but you can buy it online? It should be available at record stores only, even though they are going the way of the dinosaur. It seems evey live Metallica for the past umpteen hundred years has most of these songs on it. Although, it would have been cool to see them in a small setting like that.

Eye of the beholder and Merciful was nice. I wonder if they left it on the cd after Harvester.

Took them years to release this? Wow the original recording must almost be gone at this point with the amount of over dubs on this garbage being over whelming. Fan girls do you wish to tell us there is nothing wrong with the audio ? lol

James sounds HORRIBLE here

Write some new music. I think I speak for everyone on planet earth when I say that you have more than enough live material available. I don't even think Bill Gates could afford to buy every live show you've recorded and put up on your site.

If you really care about the old record stores so much, give them a new album that will sell 20 times more copies than a crappy live album you could just post on your site like every other show you play. And if you really care about what your fans want, give them something new to listen to that SOUNDS LIKE METALLICA.

Death Magnetic was not on par to what you're capable of. It was an improvement and it had it's moments but it was by no means a real Metallica album. Maybe if you didn't wait a half decade in between each album you'd be able to write better songs.

So quit being lazy and go write something new and worthwhile while you still can. You're just wasting your latter years by touring excessively and wearing yourselves out playing the same material over and over again. The only good it's doing is in your bank account.

Are you just fucking stupid? This isn't the audio from the recording, this is the rehearsal video from before the show that was posted on the official Metallica website over 2 years ago. The official recording is completely different and seperate from this. Fuck, if your gonna criticize get your fucking act together first. Jesus dumb anti-metallica people really shit me, the fucking ignorance and stupidity is really fucking first class.

Read the fucking news article dipshit

Is this you tryin to be a tough guy online?

Yes I did read and understand the entire article, I'm not an idiot. I guess I assumed I could avoid stating the obvious and just go into my point, but apparently there's people like you who need everything spelled out for them. So just for you, here it goes:

The fact that it's taken them 2 years to release this live album, (or series of live albums that they'll probably space out year by year) is why I said write some new material instead of releasing more live recordings to add to the vault of hundreds and thousands they have already available on their website within days of the performance. I understand this one is different from the others, but still, they could have had an easier time putting it on their site for less money and started something more productive like say....a new album.

So why don't you take your own advice and read the rest of my article before you get all up in arms about it. You have no business telling people on here they have no class when you're the one acting obnoxious, swearing at people behind your little keyboard. Why don't you be a man, shape up, and form your own opinion before you start bashing everyone else's.

Metallica - The Ultimate Garage Band.

I realize that is fan-filmed footage, but it validates my disdain for this band even more. If they made guitars small enough, you could teach a squirrel how to play these songs in about 2 minutes.
