Lawrence Jordan

Biography

"Lawrence Jordan (aka Larry Jordan) is an independent filmmaker who has been making exquisite films since 1952. Jordan worked with the celebrated American surrealist Joseph Cornell to help complete several of his films during the 1950s, before going on to develop his own extraordinary body of work. In his work he created a unique form of animation drawing on nineteenth century ephemera, in which the ghosts of Victoriana inhabit two-dimensional worlds governed by the logic of dreams. With a unique style developed over decades, Jordan has continued to elaborate and develop his baroque and uncanny vision which spans over 40 short works and three feature-length dramatic films. He has shown films and lectured throughout the country and is presently chairman of the film department at the San Francisco Art Institute." I.C.O.
