8/19/2010 | Nick Punto, SS (Min) | Punto left Thursday night's game against the Chicago White Sox in the fifth inning with a strained left hamstring. Analysis: Punto just came off the disabled list on Monday because of the same injury. He appeared to aggravate it on a headfirst slide into second base. There was no immediate word on the severity of the injury. The game Thursday was Punto's first since returning from the disabled list. He had one hit in two at-bats against Mark Buehrle. |
8/19/2010 | Vicente Padilla, SP (LAD) | The Los Angeles Dodgers have put Padilla on the 15-day disabled list because of a bulging disk in his neck. Analysis: This is the second time that Padilla is on the DL this year. He missed eight weeks early in the season with a sore right elbow. Dodgers manager Joe Torre says Padilla has been bothered by the neck ailment for his past two starts. Torre isn't sure when Padilla will pitch again. The 33-year-old Padilla is 6-4 with a 3.96 ERA in 15 starts this year. |

He was 0 for 19 the previous five games with six strikeouts. His batting average had dropped from .282 on Aug. 7 to .265 on Tuesday. |

He is 0-4 with a 3.10 ERA in his last eight starts, during which he's received nine support runs. |

Analysis: The 2008 AL MVP missed 44 games after he was placed on the disabled list on June 26 with a broken bone in his foot. He was activated Tuesday and played the last two games, going 1 for 7 with a single and a walk. Pedroia said he didn't expect to be able to go all out for the remainder of the season. "It's kind of impossible to come back and play 43 straight games," he said. "It's pretty sore in the area I broke it." |
