DAP: Same polling date not to our advantage
GEORGE TOWN: DAP is crying foul over the Election Commission’s decision to fix the by-election date for Batu Sapi on the same day as that of Galas.
DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng claimed that such a move would only worked to Barisan Nasional’s advantage.
“It is a shock to us. Pakatan Rakyat will face topographical difficulties as we have to travel to two different states to campaign.
“We cannot focus on one particular constituency due to time constraints and travelling distances. Barisan can as they have all the resources and mechanism,” he told reporters at his office here yesterday.
Lim said Pakatan would need transportation such as helicopters to reach constituents in rural areas.
“How are we going to fight them in this aspect?” he said.
Commission chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Yusof had announced that nomination for Batu Sapi would be on Oct 26 while polling day would fall on Nov 4 – the same as that for Galas.
