Olivieri, Bjork and Garcia last played together when they reunited this past June for an appearance at the Hellfest, which took place in Clisson, France. Nick and Brant joined John on stage to perform the songs "Gardenia" and "Green Machine" during a headlining appearance by Garcia's GARCIA PLAYS KYUSS project. Video footage of that performance can be viewed below.

Commented Garcia: "You know, the whole reason I ever considered doing this with Brant and Nick was the feeling we all shared during Hellfest this year. To be able to play with such amazing musicians again is a dream come true for me. This will also be a huge chance for me to let everyone know about GARCIA VS GARCIA which should be coming out fall of next year."

Since KYUSS, Garcia's musical projects include SLOBURN, UNIDA and John's most recent band HERMANO, plus side projects with THE CRYSTAL METHOD, DANKO JONES and countless others who embraced the singer from the Southern California desert.

KYUSS, the inventors of Desert Rock, have been in the last ten years much more popular than when they were still around in the early Nineties. So, due to massive public demand over the years to play songs from his old cult band KYUSS, John finally made the decision to give the fans what they want.

The last couple of years John Garcia thought often about reviving his KYUSS legacy on stage. The more he thought about it, the more he really wanted to do this. John commented: "I don't want to do this just for myself, but especially for the fans. Both for the ones that have seen KYUSS live back in the days, and especially for the ones who haven't had that chance. This could be as close as they could get to the real thing. Please bear in mind that this could be a one-off unique opportunity!"

John Garcia (born in San Manuel, Arizona, September 4, 1970) is a vocalist who has been a member of KYUSS, SLO BURN, UNIDA and HERMANO. His vocals have become synonymous with modern stoner rock and the desert rock sound. While still in high school, Garcia help start KYUSS (originally known as SONS OF KYUSS) in 1989 with guitarist Josh Homme. The band produced five albums in total, all of which featured Garcia on vocals.

In October 1995, just three months after releasing what could be argued as their breakthrough album "...And The Circus Leaves Town" (thanks to MTV airplay), KYUSS broke up. Their last recording was a 10" vinyl on the now-defunct label Man's Ruin Records, which was later re-released on a split CD with Homme's QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE. The band has been on an indefinite hiatus ever since and has reached a legendary status, influencing thousands of new young rock bands.

We all suck and it's wierd that you guys are calling yourself fans without knowing that Tom Jones actually wrote all the songs for them.
Back to school!

Can we get a consensus here that Homme is a fucking overrated doucher? They can do this without him. I admire the guy's talent, but he's such a fucking asshole, he can eat a bag of dicks IMNSHO.

It would be great if Homme could be a part of this, but I think that going on with the show here without him is fine. They have what it takes to make this a hell of a lot of fun. I would go see this in a heart beat if they would come here to LA/CA.

If anything Kyuss is underrated, Sky Valley and Blues For the Red Sun are 2 of my favorite 90's rock albums. Perfect road trip albums especially if you're in the Mojave Desert/Joshua Tree area! They had a truly unique sound.

Looking at some of the comments... Kyuss over-rated? Fuck off! Queens of The Stone Age most definitely over-rated, they've sucked since Rated R... Fuck Homme, besides, he was a dick when I met him and his missus... moody bastards.
Er, saying all that, if Homme WAS to join in, I'd shut my fucking mouth!

Kyuss is one of the most overrated bands in metal history. I was there when Kyuss were getting around, and I owned some of their cassettes. Decent band, nothing special. All of the spin-off bands were decent at best.

I found out about this band a couple of years ago on a Kiss thread, now listen to them all the time.

I love Kyuss and I like QOTSA, but I think QOTSA has become a little predictable on their last two releases.
It would be great to see Homme back with these guys, but it won't happen.
I could see him coming on stage to play a song or two if he is in town ala Garcia doing so with QOTSA a few years back.

But I would love to hear a new Kyuss album with homme involved.

Its not josh's fault he was the most creative and talented person in the band. Garcia was an average singer at best. And the other two positions were rotated between multiple players.

This is not even close to being right without Josh. He was the main creative and driving force within this band. He wrote a great majority of the band's entire catalog. Either wait for Josh or don't do it at all. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Incorrect, Brant Bjork wrote a good chunk of the early stuff and even several of the classics on their best record "Sky Valley." I'd go see this if it came to the states, but I wouldn't really think it was Kyuss. Kyuss really is not over rated at all - Sky Valley is one of the most solid records ever made from any band in any era. It is a classic from front to back and recommended for any hard rock fan. Scott Reeder was also the better bassist in the band and played on their best material (he has more of a Geezer Butler feel as opposed to Nick;s punk style of playing) - a proper reunion would include Scott and Josh. And who cares if its a cash grab - its like you morons don't want these guys to make a living giving you great music. I hope they make a fortune from this!

If Josh can't or won't participate, then so what ... this is THE next best thing.

Close as it can get, and I would definitely go and see them.

Love KYUSS. But yeah, they were probably more influential than they were prolific. Love the sound though - I mean they helped lay the groundwork for so many doom and stoner metal bands. (Well okay noting that they were aping Sabbath and Blue Cheer notwithstanding). But anyway, I love Josh Homme as an abrasive talented guy so I can say this without flinching - Fuck 'em, KYUSS LIVES. Ya know???

without Homme, there is a stench of 'cash grab' to it. I mean, Homme wrote almost all of the songs!? But, if this comes to the US, 3/4 of Kyuss is better than none, and i'll be there with bells on! Hopefully Josh will decide to participate...
