Dear Dan,

Thanks for the quick reply. Thanks for bringing the 1998 reference to our attention. Indeed, according to our log records you visited 2 and 3 November 2000. The creation date of the unit we lent you was 1998. According to our records you have Unit: DAC010-V with 4 channel 85x55x40 mm DAC010-V-SR and DAC010-V-SL solenoids. We try to keep very precise records of equipment and data. I have asked Mr. Mach to change 1998 to 2000.

I'll check Runehov's manuscript as you requested.

There is one thing that would be quite useful and might allow a convergence point for both of our research groups. We have found a consistent moderate positive strength correlation between the ranking of sensed presences and the global geomagnetic activity (aa values) during the 3-hr period and the 24-hr period of the experiment. How long would it take you to complete these analyses for your data? You would only have 80 some cases.

Per case we usually have id, experimental field condition, exit questionnaire scores, and then the k values for the 9, 3-hr (UT-adjusted)  periods of and around the experiment, as well as the daily aa values for the day of and each of the three days before and after the experiment for each person.  Hence there would be 16 aa values along with the behavioral data. This allows for covariance for the 3-hr increments before and after the experiment period when the sensed presence was recorded as well as the daily factors which we often find act as "promotors" of the effect.

Thanks again,

Michael

Dear Michael,

We had to reduce the length of the paper in several steps to force it
to fit the format of Neuroscience Letters, hence a lot of information
had to be left out. By the way, our paper has not yet appeared on the
journal web site, they are very slow indeed.

I will pass your questions on to Marcus and Pehr who are the experts
on the computer physics and psychology, respectively. They can give
more precise answers than I can.

Pehr alerted me yesterday to your web page
http://laurentian.ca/neurosci/News/Dec_news.htm. However my browser
cannot see any attached e-mails. Pehr apparently could read some, but
he said that only one of ours was included.

Incidentally, Marcus and I visited you on November 3-4, 2000. Marcus
probably knows what date when we received the helmet, I believe early
2001.

Have you had a chance to check Anne Runehov's way of describing your
writings on religion? I am currently compiling a list of incorrect
quotes and biased interpretations in her thesis. I have ordered your
1987 book from our library, but it would be much better if you could
say if she gives a correct description of your writings or not,
particularly her statements on pages 101 and 104. The more I read her
thesis, the more suprised I get that she was awarded a doctoral
degree.

The winter solstice two days ago was extremely dark because all the
snow we had a few weeks ago had melted away. But from now on it will
only get better, we even got a little bit of snow yesterday. Lucky
you who are much further south!

Happy holidays,
