Every year City University recognises a number of distinguished individuals and leaders of their professions through the award of an honorary degree. Brief biographical details of the honorary graduands for 2008/9 are set out below.
Professor Gwyneth Lewis, OBE, is the National Clinical Director for Maternal Health and Maternity Services for the Department of Health, England, as well as the Director of the Confidential Enquiries into Maternal Deaths UK.

Mr Alderman Nick Anstee took office as the 682nd Lord Mayor of the City of London on Friday 13th November 2009. As Lord Mayor he promotes the Square Mile as the world’s leading international financial and business centre, and his project is sponsoring the spread of financial literacy.

Transport for London (TfL) on February 1st 2006, and oversees one of the world’s largest multi-modal transport authorities.

Professor Denis Protti, FACMI, is Professor of Health Informatics at the University of Victoria, Canada and currently Visiting Chair of Health Informatics at City University London.

Mr Alex Graham is CEO of Wall to Wall as well as the largest shareholders and a board member of Shed Media. Over 20 years, Alex has been involved in creating and executive producing a wide range of hit television programmes including The 1900 House, A Rather English Marriage, Who Do You Think You Are? and New Tricks.

Mr Scott Dobbie, CBE, is Chairman of The Edinburgh Investment Trust plc, the Standard Life European Private Equity Trust, the Securities & Investment Institute, the Pre-Emption Group and the City of London Corporation. He is an Assessor for the Irish Regulatory Authority and Director of the Qualifications & Curriculum Authority.
