Recital Jonas Kaufmann at the Gran Teatre del Liceu de Barcelona

The German tenor Jonas Kaufmann accompanied on the piano by Helmut Deutsch will give a recital in The Gran Teatre del Liceu of Barcelona on October 10 with songs by Richard Strauss, Franz Schubert and others.
After his notable successful debut in the 99th Bayreuth Festival in August 2010 on the role of Wagner’s Lohengrin, staged by Hans Neuenfels and conducted by Andris Nelsons, and before coming to Barcelona he will be playing the role of Maurizio in Francesco Cilea’s Adraina Lecouvreur at the German Opera of Berlin in a concert performance and the song cycle, from Franz Schubert, Die schöne Müllerin accompanied on the piano by Daniel Barenboim at the Staatsoper unter den Linden of Berlin.
Jonas Kaufmann, born in Munich in 1969, began his professional career at Staatstheater Saarbrücken in 1994 and was soon invited to make debuts in other German theaters, such as the Stuttgart Opera and Hamburg State Opera, as well as international debuts at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Opéra National de Paris, and La Scala de Milano. He made his Salzburg Festival debut in 1999 in a new production of Busoni's Doktor Faust and returned to the festival in 2003 as Belmonte in Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail and for concerts of the Beethoven's Ninth with the Berlin Philharmonic. He performed in the Covent Garden in 2006-2007 the role of Don José in Bizet's Carmen to critical acclaim, and the role of Alfredo in La Traviata at the Metropolitan Opera and the Covent Garden in 2008, together with his role debut as Cavaradossi in Puccini's Tosca in Covent Garden. He has already played different roles like Tamino of a new production of The Magic Flute in February 2007 in Zurich, Florestan in a new production of Fidelio at the Opera Garnier in Paris, Des Grieux (Manon) in Vienna, Verdi's Messa da Requiem followed under Daniel Barenboim in Paris and Milan or his role debut as Massenet's Werther at the Opera Bastille in Paris.
Jonas Kaufmann is, after a long wait, a German singer that can sing the song sheets of a Lohengrin and Walther von Stolzing as beautiful with the sustained lyricism of Verdi and Puccini. Wagner's ideal of a connection between German depth of expression and Italian vocal culture. Kaufman is a tenor with a seductive-voice that has the color (darker) of a baritone mixed with bright trebles that can handle a wide vocal range, from quiet, intimate tone to the dramatic eruption of the lyrical intimacy of Prince Tamino on the tone of a heroic Siegmund to the painful incarnation of Parsifal.
