Guns N' Roses set for 2011 reunion?

Over the weekend the internet was awash with fresh speculation that the original line-up of Guns N' Roses are set for a 2011 reunion after video footage of former bassist Duff McKagan performing You Could Be Mine live with the band was posted online.

Last Thursday (October 14) McKagan joined GN'R frontman Axl Rose on stage at London's O2 Arena for rip roaring run throughs of GN'R's You Could Be Mine, Bob Dylan's Knockin' On Heavens Door and Rose tattoo's Nice Boys Don't Play Rock And Roll and GN'R's Patience. It was the first time in 17 years that the pair have been on the same stage together.

Check out fan filmed footage below.

While Rose has previously said he'd never work with guitarist Slash again stated that "one of the two of us will die before a [Guns N' Roses] reunion", McKagan seems much more receptive to the idea.

"I'm not going to be one of those guys who's like 'fuck that, that'll never happen.'" he told Rolling Stone. "It could very well happen. I love Axl. We've been through a lot of shit together that nobody can take that away from us."

Who cares!

Anything in the news about GnR is either Axl being a dick or reunion rumours!

Reunion will never happen, I dont want it either. The new band is making great progress. People need to let go of these reunion rumours/hopes and move on.

Steven Adler has been begging and crying every week on Blabbermouth about a gnr reunion. It would be insanely epic if they did get back together and toured but I just can't see it happening :(

Those who talk silly about guns n' roses either are newbies on rock n roll scene or just dumb.
As a fan who has followed GnR since their boost in 1989, I not only want a reunion to happen but also think new GNR suck. As I saw on a blog whose name I cant remember, this new gnr is nothing but a living corpse trying to survive under Axl's charisma and the name of the band. The new guitarist, although not totally bad, screws up nearly every song when compared to Slash's riffs and feelings. Duff has to be one of the best bassist ever and the 3 of them together are what made GnR be what they were in the late 80s and early 90s. And they also are what made possible for the band to go on with regular - not great - fans despite the decrease of quality.
GNR original has to come!

you cared enough to bother to post.

I for one would give my left bollock for an Appetite For Destruction reunion. However, I can't see it happening. Sure, Steven would be up for it, Duff too by the looks of it, and given Axl and Izzy were friends for years before Guns even formed I wouldn't bet against him being up for it. But Slash? Him and Axl haven't spoken since 1993. Would you be happy to share a stage with someone who said you were 'a cancer best cut out' and that it would have been better if you'd 'never been in the band in the first place'?
Don't get me wrong, I'd love this tour to happen as I was only 6 when GnR died, but they are my favourite band, but I think Axl has gone too far to rectify the situation.
Still, stranger things have happened...

I've taken to referring to new GnR as "Axl and the Randoms"

Posted by Andie | October 18, 2010 2:06 PM | Reply to this

First sorry for the double post, it was not intended - error page.
Second @Markos Van Halen
I second each and every line of yours but one: Axl and Duff hadn't spoken since 1993 either - and look at Axl's smiling face whe he says "Who the fuck..?? Oh... it's Duff". Stuff such as a cancer, and never been in the band are told anf forgotten, same when we fight with a brother and tell them "I could kill you, idiot". Of course I know it has always been way too more serious, but as you say, stragen things have happened... I think Axl is a little bit less insane than in his youth. I was 12 in 1989 and followed everything GnR related. Matt Sorum also has been talkin to Axl since 2006. With Slash things will be more complicated, I know. But I'm willing to wait another 17 years if this is what it takes!

Why does this circus still operate under the name Guns n Roses?

Even if there was a reunion (which is seriously unlikely) the other guys would get weighed down by the collosal waste of space that Axl Rose has become.O.o

Posted by Angst | October 18, 2010 5:25 PM | Reply to this

A full reunion is very unlikely, Axl said he might perform with izzy or duff but not slash. I wish the would get back together the new 'GNR' suck. Its not even guns n roses anymore its Axl and friends. Axl is a prick, coming on late, leaving the stage, refusing to leave, what an arshole. But i do love the old GNR but a reunoin is not gonna happen

Posted by matthew | October 18, 2010 6:40 PM | Reply to this

Who cares? It's only Axl Rose and Tribute now, he's ruined the Guns n Rose name!

Posted by Sammie | October 18, 2010 6:42 PM | Reply to this

Life is too short to hold grudges, I LOVE GN'R, a reunion would be out of this world, I'd pay through my nose and prey.
I hope this is true.

i hope the ginger prick falls off stage and breaks his neck, bunch of fuds.

is good to see to giants of rock together again

Axl and Slash can't stand each other. One of them will die before there's a reunion.

Posted by Michaela | October 18, 2010 8:53 PM | Reply to this

In reply to someone saying the new GNR are making progress, they are VERY wrong. Their one album they made together took them 15 years to finish and it isn't 15 years worth of quality. And did you see the fuckwit Axl made of himself at reading and leeds? Puh-lease. The guy wants shooting for being a prick.

axl acts sometimes like a fucking dictator i hope slash will be agree with duffs desition.

Its really great news for Fans of "GNR" even i m amazed but its a great treat after 17 years.............Cheers to GNR...!!

Axl Rose
Slash
Duff McKagan
Izzy Stradlin
Steve Adler
= GUNS 'N ROSES

I will, like Markos Van Halen give ANY body part to see that happen.
...not a bollock though, unfortunately, I am a lady.
But fuck me, that's amazing news.
Appetite For Destruction in its entirety...with that original lineup will be a living dream!

A reunion will NEVER happen. Slash hates Axl's guts. Slash is doing very well for himself so money will never be enough to make him get on the same stage as Axl. IIRC Slash hasnt spoken to Axl Rose since 1994.

Posted by Bonafide | October 19, 2010 10:14 AM | Reply to this

Reunion will not happen, and anyway, how uncomfortable does Duff look on the stage.

Posted by David Brady | October 19, 2010 10:56 AM | Reply to this

PEU, Slash isn't doing well for himself at all. His album only sold 60,000 copies the first week and he's playing to crowds of 1-2 thousand people.

No matter what he says, he'd die for a GNR reunion.

Posted by ctf | October 19, 2010 9:41 PM | Reply to this

GNR Sound fucking awful these days, when I heard Axl sing at Leeds I immediatly shouted FUCK OFF and walked away. He sounds NOTHING like he used to, Welcome to the Jungle was DESTROYED by him on stage.

I just wish he'd stop now, he's tarnished the GNR name by carrying it on as it is, anymore and he'll just be the laughing joke of the music world.

Hey Duff please dont lower yourself to his level he is a washed up, arrogant singer, stay with slash and matt in velvet revolver!
You are much too good for Axl

why is the lead guitarist wearing a top hat like Slash? he is not Slash or as good as him and never will be

Bunch of fuckin clowns, i mean, buckethead... Right... As most people i'd love a reunion of slash, izzy, axl, steven and duff but i doubt it will happen now. Fuck new gnr, they are a cheap imatation of the old band and real gnr fans will know that. Its really axl trying to replace everyone to make more money, its not about the music.

It probably will happen because John Lennon is the foucus here. He has a daughter and she is going to inherit money from his will. Ono has to announce it. These bands are putting their differences aside for the Prince of rock John Lennon.
