Miguez will race in Auto GP with Rp Motorsport

Celso Miguez will race in Auto GP. The Spanish driver, runner up in the 2009 European F3 Open, signed an agreement with the Italian team RP Motorsport in order to be on the series starting grid and compete for the 1.2 million euros prize money.

Miguez, who is 26, was born in Pontevedra, Galicia and is a very experienced driver, who already contested eight seasons on single seaters. After starting in karting, Celso raced in Formula Nissan 2000, clinching three podium finishes in his debut year. Then he switched to F.3 and World Series Light, a championship wherein he took 3 wins, 13 podiums and 4 pole positions, coming second in the 2004 overall classification. After three seasons of up and downs in World Series by Renault, Miguez went back to F.3, immediately recovering his best shape, good results and wins. In 2009, he was runner up in the European F3 Open, fighting until the last race and ending just 2 points shy of the title, after five race wins and eleven podiums.

He is used to wheel to wheel racing and he knows how to tame a powerful car, so he'll surely be among the ones to watch for the title fight.

Celso Miguez: "I'm confident that Auto GP will be a real step forward for my career. All the drivers who tested the car said it's incredibly fast, so I'm looking forward to doing the first laps in it. As soon as I decided to race in the Series, I thought about RP Motorsport, as I challenged them in the 2009 European F3 Open and they were really strong opponents. I'm sure that working together we can aim for great results".

Enzo Coloni: "We have no doubt about that, Miguez is a quality boost for our grid. When we created the series, we had in mind young drivers struggling to find huge budgets, and experienced drivers which finally could have the chance to earn money thanks to their experience and talent, like a pro does. Celso fits in this group very well".
