Who Are the Greatest Legends of USF Athletics?

Nov. 19, 2004

The Legends Committee has met over the last 18 months and has agreed to a "formula" for choosing the "Legends of USF Athletics" in celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the University. This celebratory event will be held on Friday evening, October 14, 2005. The list of nominees include all Hall of Fame members and those individuals chosen by the committee who are not yet members of the Hall of Fame because they have not met the 5 year waiting period requirement, but are very likely to do so at the first opportunity. After thoroughly reviewing several different options, the Legends Committee has decided the best way to choose the "Top 50" is to have comments submitted by the fans, alumni and friends on behalf of the nominees. These comments will then be reviewed by a panel of experts. Director of Athletics Bill Hogan was given a list of potential members of the selection panel by the Legends Committee. He will be inviting these individuals for meetings in January 2005. All of the comments supporting a particular candidate will be reviewed by the panel of experts. The panel will then make the final selections.

Below is a list of nominees for inclusion in the list of the greatest legends of USF Athletics. Comment on your favorite candidate by completing the form located at the end of the list of nominees. When finished, you can either e-mail to Dr. Bill Hogan, Director of Athletics at Hogan@usfca.edu, mail to USF Athletics, c/o Bill Hogan, 2130 Fulton St., San Francisco, CA. 94117, or fax c/o Bill Hogan at (415) 422-2510. During games at USF's Memorial Gym, you can deposit your comment form in the Legends Box at the "Will Call" ticket office. If you have any questions, please call (415) 422-6891.
