PETER GREENAWAY PEOPLING THE PALACES
Peopling the Palaces is a film-installation by peter Greenaway. It has been created to be projected in five large sections of the Royal Palace of Venaria.
It features the greeting of the 10 archetypes of court life at the Entrance (20'), the awakening of the duke and the conversations of the Ladies in Waiting in the Private Apartments (17'), the noisy Kitchens ruled by a tyrannical cook (18'), the Hunt (15'), the feast and the court ball in the final Procession (15').
The Palace thus becomes animated by characters from the past, illustrious princes and obscures servants, beautiful maids of honour and young horsemen, interpreted by well-known Italian actors and projected on the walls.
