International Programs at Union

international programsToday's college students are truly citizens of the globe. That's why Union is passionate about educating students who are at home in the world.

Whether you do ecological research in Australia, work with local businesses in Fiji/Palau or explore architecture in Italy, you'll find that studying in another country is a vital part of your Union education.

You'll see, first hand, how other people live  you'll learn new languages and customs, sample unfamiliar cuisines, be exposed to art, culture, politics and history. Most of all, you'll gain new perspectives and ways of thinking to carry with you for a lifetime.

"My term abroad experiences are the moments from college that I reflect most on now. I'm not sure even today if I fully realize how much I learned from traveling abroad in college." – Jon Thatcher '07

More than 60 percent of our students from all disciplines study abroad in dozens of countries. Choose from a term abroad, a mini-term (over winter or summer break), non-Union program or independent study (ISA). Most of our international programs are led by our own faculty, so you'll get to know your professors as people, not just teachers.

Our International Programs Office, located on the third floor of Old Chapel, also has fact sheets about the diverse opportunities available and application forms to get you started. Throughout the year, we offer information sessions on how to plan and prepare for overseas studies. Your major advisor and other professors can also offer advice about studying abroad, and students share their abroad experiences at regular lunch-time talks.
