Niger Politics | Economy - Development | Society | Agriculture - Nutrition International aid appeal launched for Niger afrol News, 11 February - The United Nations and its non-governmental organisation (NGO) partners have appealed for international aid to help the impoverished West African country of Niger overcome imminent shortages of food. Some 7.8 million people in Niger - or three fifths of the population – are said to be facing moderate to severe food insecurity."It is imperative to support the Government in its efforts to mobilize the resources to satisfy the food needs of the most vulnerable," resident UN Humanitarian Coordinator Khardiata Lo N'Diaye said.
