About the Awards

GameSpot's Best of 2010 awards cover special achievements in the field of advancements for games, dubious honors for less-than-admirable qualities, and full awards for individual genres and every major platform. Nominations and awards are the result of rigorous debate among GameSpot's editors, who select up to five finalists and one winner for almost every category (the Game of the Year category includes up to 10 finalists). To qualify for an editorial award, games must have been reviewed by GameSpot between January 1, 2010, and November 30, 2010.

Award categories are intended to call out those games that truly deserve the attention--therefore, while each award is meaningful, it's considered an honor simply to be nominated.

Special Achievement

Best Original Music

While it's common for some video games to license existing music from established musical artists, this category recognizes the best original musical scores that were composed and performed for video games this year.

If you haven't played all the games you should be banned from voting! Either way, God of War 3 gets my vote!

Feel like crying, DJ Hero 2 contains original mixes that people pay to download on their Ipods, why does RDR have to dominate everything?!

Really again, Meatboy definately deserves this. RDR had a decent song in there when you made it to mexico thats about it and mass effect really thats an option.

RDR. I loved super meat boy but the music annoyed me after awhile, and I knew that it was trying to be retro. Just didn't care for it. RDR used its music brillantly in all the right places. When you are just riding the open plains the music helps the atmosphere go to that next level, and then there are those tracks that play during/after important missions in the game. Remember going to Mexico for the first time and that song that was about loneliness played? Just awesome stuff

The lack of Last Ranker disturbs me.

I can legitimately vote RDR because it used its soundtrack in a way that just moved me. When you go into Mexico and it lowers the ingame noises to play that song and you just ride along through the desert enjoying the game's sights, man. I loved the RDR soundtrack. I'm glad I got it free with my preorder thingy.

Who wrote this? I want their adress and the names of all their family members. Also, a local gunstore. And make sure the guns they sell are pink.
