David Yates

Now one of film's hottest properties, David Yates is currently in production on the Harry Potter two-parter Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, having seen his earlier instalments Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix break box office records across the globe.

David spent most of his career in television since graduating in 1992, numbering among his credits The Bill, the BAFTA-nominated drama The Sins, and BAFTA-winning drama serial The Way We Live Now, starring David Suchet. His next BBC TV series, the political thriller State of Play, starring Bill Nighy and Kelly Macdonald, notched up yet more awards, including a Directors Guild of Great Britain Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement, in 2004. More plaudits followed for Sex Traffic (Channel 4), which won a BAFTA for Best Drama Serial. David's most recent television film was The Girl in the Cafe, which re-united Bill Nighy and Macdonald in a romantic drama scripted by Four Weddings and a Funeral's writer Richard Curtis.
