Zips stay hot in Vegas

Akron took down Stetson today in a Las Vegas matinee.

Sharpshooting won it for the Zips, who made 14 3-pointers. Then they closed it out by making 12 consecutive free throw attempts.

It was Akron's third win in five days. And they'll return in 20 hours for the main event of the tournament. Today's game and yesterday's against Arkansas-Little Rock were simply the undercard. The Zips' biggest test is tomorrow at 3 p.m., Eastern Time, when the Zips and Miami Hurricanes face off.

Miami has played strong so far, with a 9-3 record and a win over West Virginia and narrow loss at Memphis. Miami and Akron both played Stetson. The Zips won by 15; The 'Canes won by 14.

If the Zips shoot like they have been, they have a great shot at knocking off Miami.

Now if only they can avoid that officiating crew from tonight.

That figures…..you win and all you can do is blast the officials. Maybe the next crew will be wearing a diiferent "hat". BTW……if you knock off the "U" it ain`t saying much. Miami is not that good right now.

Again, Zips live by the three. That's a precarious way to win. The legs have to be getting tired here with the third game in three days. Three point accuracy goes out the window with tired legs. We'll see. Gonna be a good test for Zeke.

Anyhow, go Zips! Beat the 'Canes!
Fear the Roo!

Fred, we won yes. But if you ask anyone that watched the game, you would hear the same thing. Even from people that don't normally complain about the refs.

Also, why are you so cold of a person that you have to troll on everything U Akron related?
What can you possibly gain from that?
