The cost of fuel in Turkey is continuing to rise, with the announcement of an additional TL 0.07 per liter in diesel prices.

With this latest spike on Wednesday night, the price of a liter of diesel in rural and regional areas near Ankara will reach TL 3.18 -- previously TL 3.12 -- while the price increased to TL 3.32 from TL 3.25 per liter in the nation’s capital.

Moreover, diesel prices in rural and regional areas around İstanbul increased from TL 3.10 to TL 3.16 per liter, while diesel prices in the city reached TL 3.30 per liter -- from the previous price of TL 3.25 per liter. The diesel price in İzmir has increased to TL 3.15 and TL 3.29 in rural and urban areas, respectively. It was previously retailing at TL 3.09 (rural) and TL 3.23 (urban) per liter.

The reason prices vary from province to province is due to competition and the fuel distribution companies operating in those areas.

Liquified petroleum gas (LPG) prices also have increased. According to the latest price revision, a liter of LPG will now retail at between TL 2.69 and TL 2.76.
