What's New in OIP

The mission of the Office of International Programs (OIP) at Georgetown University is to foster the international character of the University by promoting, supporting, and developing a wide range of international and intercultural educational opportunities for members of the Georgetown community.

There are three functions to the Office of International Programs. The Division of International Student and Scholar Services (IS) supports international students and scholars in deriving the maximum advantage from their educational and research experiences at Georgetown. The Division of Overseas Studies (OS) develops and administers international educational opportunities overseas for GU students. The Global Strategies Team works to develop strategic relationships with our overseas partner institutions, fostering new collegial associations and creating new international opportunities for various groups within the Georgetown community. The Executive Director of International Programs, Katherine S. Bellows, oversees the office.

In coordinating these, and other international projects, the Office of International Programs seeks to foster a sense of community that builds on the universalism of the University's intellectual tradition, and encourages many voices to be heard. OIP facilitates these cross-cultural discussions by sponsoring exchanges of students and faculty and serving as a resource for departments and schools on campus that undertake international and intercultural initiatives.
