CCTV cameras to be installed in Haryana jails
After having established video-conferencing facilities between jails and courts, the Haryana government has decided to install close circuit television (CCTV) cameras in all 18 jails of the state, ensuring a stepped-up vigilance on inmates there. Haryana Electronic Development and Corporation (HARTRON) will install the CCTV cameras in all jails by next year.

Food inflation zooms up to 12.13%
High prices of onions, fruits, vegetables, milk, eggs, meat and poultry sharply raised India's annual food inflation based on wholesale prices to 12.13 per cent for the week ended December 11 from 9.46 per cent for the week before. This was the third successive week of a rise in the food inflation rate, pushing it back to double-digit level.

No revision of warning on tobacco packs till 2012
The central Health Ministry has delayed the revision of pictorial warnings on cigarette and tobacco packets till 2012. According to the Ministry notification issued on December 20, the existing pictorial warnings will continue and any revision will come into force only after two years.

India to launch communication satellite on Dec 25
With investigations into a leak in a rocket engine's valve providing satisfactory results on Wednesday, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will launch an advanced communications satellite. "The test results are satisfactory and the rocket's launch is scheduled December 25. The launch countdown will begin 11 AM on Friday," S Satish, a Director at ISRO said.
