John Long ARHA

Born in Portadown in 1964. Long completed a BA and MA in the Slade School of Fine Art in 1984- 1990 where he studied under Euan Uglow. He was an artist in residence at the Byam Shaw School of Art 1990- 91. In 1995 Long was elected an Associate member of the Royal Hibernian Academy.

He is currently senior lecturer in painting at Canterbury University in Kent, where he lives. The artist has exhibited widely throughout Ireland, the United Kingdom and abroad.

His group exhibitions include

Twentieth century British Art fair London, 1996
the London Contemporary Art Fair, 2001
Vital Presence, Belltable Arts Centre Limerick, 1998,
RHA Banquet Exhibition 1992/ 4/ 8/
and the RHA Annual exhibition since 1993.

Solo shows include

European Modern Art in Dublin, 1993
Theo Waddington Fine Art, Cork Street, London in 199
and Jorgensen Fine Art in Dublin in 1999 and 2003.

The public collections of both the Haverty Trust and the AIB contain examples of his work.
