Rajan Datar looks at the battle for cyberspace that’s currently being fought in Iran.

He talks to the BBC’s Tehran correspondent, Jon Leyne, about his experience of “information blockades”, periods when the Iranian authorities clamp down on communication, dismantling the mobile phone network, blocking SMS messages and shutting down the internet.

And Rajan also talks to Mahmood Enayat, the BBC World Service Trust's expert on Iran and the internet, to find out whether anything can be done to prevent repressive governments from taking control of cyberspace.

And the programme also previews the forthcoming World Service season, Superpower, which looks at the impact of the internet on society.
