Great stuff for your new Kindle
Ranked #3 in Books, #45 overall
Approximately a million people...
Now that you've got one and the stores are closed, what a perfect chance to start buying and reading. It becomes a cycle, though. You've been warned.
Not to fear, there's an entire section of free Kindle books here as well.
PS Linchpin has been chosen as BOOK OF THE YEAR by a writer for Toronto's Globe & Mail, and one of the best business books of the year by the Miami Herald and 800 CEO READ.
Drive on the Kindle
Drive
Amazon Price: (as of 12/27/2010)
This book, like everything Dan writes, will grab you early and won't let go. You'll be thinking about the key takeaways for months... especially if you're a boss.
Syrup on the Kindle
Syrup
Amazon Price: (as of 12/27/2010)
This is book is funny and fast and insightful and addictive. And Barry has a bunch of others once you get hooked.
Hugh on the Kindle
Ignore Everybody
Amazon Price: (as of 12/27/2010)
Hugh's stuff works on the Kindle, and it works for creatives, and it works for people who are stuck.
Oh no, it's Panda Poet!
Panda Poet
Amazon Price: $2.99 (as of 12/27/2010)
Totally addictive. Do not buy this. Do not stick with it for an hour until you get hooked. Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!
(yes, it's a game, and yes it's on the Kindle, and yes my high score is 2,000,000 he says with pride.)
Linchpin on the Kindle
Linchpin: Are You Indispensable?
Amazon Price: (as of 12/27/2010)
If you haven't read it yet, I hope you will.
Guns, Germs and Steel
Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies
Amazon Price: (as of 12/27/2010)
The title is deceptive. It's not really about any of these. It's about the achingly slow evolution of culture, and how it has changed everything about the world we live in. This is a fabulous book, a book I wish I had the chops to write.
The history of PARC
Dealers of Lightning
Amazon Price: (as of 12/27/2010)
And the fact that you don't instantly know why PARC is important is reason enough to read this painstakingly researched yet fast and fun history of the Xerox PARC, the Mac, the Internet and everything.

- If you like the Dip, you'll enjoy The Talent Code by Daniel Coyle. May just give you that extra umpfh to push through the dip.
Talent is Overrated, Geoff Colvin
Teach Like a Champion, Doug Lemov
Totally shameless plug: Miss Mentor's Little Black Book of Grammar. Hey, it's $5 and if you are preparing for an old school standardized test, it's all the Grammar you need without all the other fussy stuff.
Economic Facts and Fallacies, Thomas Sowell - very conversational, approachable reading.

- My best book of 2010 (and it's on Kindle, too!) is Chocolate Wars: The 150-Year Rivalry Between the World's Greatest Chocolate Makers by Deborah Cadbury. It's got everything - Innovation. Globalization. Competition. Failure. Success. Indomitability and Vision. Great takeaways and a great read. You can read about one of the biggest takeaways at http://bit.ly/evbhr3 . Thanks, Seth, for everything you do - and Happy Holidays to All!

- I would like to suggest my own novel, 'TAG'. USD2.99 on Amazon. That may seem cheap, and yes it is less than cup of coffee at Starbucks, but that does not mean it was produced cheaply.
Read the reviews and judge for yourself - if your tastes run to Sci-Fi with a near future thriller bent - you can't go wrong. Just search for TAG - Simon Royle on Amazon.
