The “Fable III” Adventures Rage On With the “Understone Quest Pack,” Available Today

Title Update Coming Soon

Jump back into the whimsical world of “Fable III” with the all new “Understone Quest Pack,” available starting today on Xbox LIVE Marketplace for 400 Microsoft Points. The new Game Add-on grants fans access to three unique experiences, including a journey through the mysterious town called Understone, tucked beneath the bustling streets of Bowerstone.

Designed by the peculiar mind of inventor Montague Hummes following the uncertain events that unfolded in “Fable II,” Understone brings new houses and stalls to own, creatures to conquer and a mystery to solve. The “Understone Quest Pack” brings more action and adventure your way with the following quests:

“The Voice”: In the main quest, explore the mysterious underground land built by Montague Hummes in fear of the Spire in “Fable II”

  • Discover the origin of the voice that controls the people of Understone
  • Features a moral decision that will lead to two drastically different outcomes in Understone

“Shooting Range”: After defeating Saker during your quest to become Queen of King, the remaining Mercenaries have turned their camp into a tourist attraction. The main attraction being the replayable shooting range mode

  • Beat the high scores to win three prizes that can be used while playing the minigame: the Marksman 500 (gifted to players for downloading the pack), Money Shot (prize) and Black Dragon (prize)

The Wheel of Misfortune”: After Reaver vacated his home, he set up a venture for budding heroes to replay the thrilling arena-based challenges within his new dwellings

  • Beat the high scores to win three new weapons that can be used while playing in the minigame:  The Full Monty (gifted to players upon downloading pack), Dirty Harriet (prize) and Dead Ned’s Revolver (prize)

Also coming soon, fans will see some positive changes to the “Fable III” gameplay via a Title Update. Lionhead Studios has been hard at work addressing gameplay issues in the massive world of Fable III. In addition, a new voice over pack will be released for some regions, adding even more polish to the adventure. Title update fixes will address the following and more:

  • General gameplay progression and spawning issues
  • Sanctuary map and audio functionality
  • Isolated corrupted game saves
  • General performance surrounding Orbs, audio, frame rates and other features

I know it is not easy to work with title updates, but a better idea of when it is coming out would be greatly appreciated.  I refuse to spend money on DLC until I know most of the issues I have are fixed.  My game isn't broken and I still love the game, but I don't want to put down even more money when I can't play the full experience yet.

"Why did they not just dellay the game and put this in it originally."

Delay the whole game for one extra town?

Alot of planning went into the release date. For the good of the company, I reckon as a semi-layman, they had to release it and start making back capital.   If you delay a game too long, you miss your optimal release window, you dont' make as much revenue, people start to lose jobs, and before you know it,  no one's making Fable anymore.  PC ports get cancelled, teams get broken up or made redundant...

So its a tricky thing.  I reckon.

@frogofspac - give it to your dog when you interact with him outside of the sanctuary *slaps forehead*

The update - sounds ok, but the voice pack isnt that interesting really, its ok i guess but i'm not exactly going to interact with people more as a result and i just standing around listeing to people seems a bit sad really. Unless of course the expressions system is fixed, would be nice...

I loved the first 2 Fable games, the atmosphere to the action was great. I recently bought Fable 3, but after seeing the many Many MANY bug complaints I'm really tempted to return it and buy a more polished game, or a few polished games. I don't want a relatively good prior fable experience to be tarnished by this buggy mess.

I was excited by this DLC announcement, I love Fable 3 and some more of it can only be a good thing. Only 400 points as well. At that price, it would almost be rude not to buy it. However, remember that old saying 'You get what you pay for'

So for 400 points, you shouldn't be expecting much. Unfortunately you get less than that. This DLC is a joke. Obviously cut from the main game to be sold later, the main quest takes about 10 minutes to complete and adds nothing to the Fable 3 experience, the Wheel of Misfortune segment is a cakewalk, the Shooting Gallery is a bit tricker, but I was in local co-op mode at the time, and I think that may have broken the camera a bit, at least I hope it was that, otherwise it's a very poor piece of code and the difficulty only come from the fact you can't see the targets.

Fable 3 was almost criminally short, and to find out that little segments and bonuses like these were intentionally cut from the main game makes me rather cross. This is 20 minutes that should have been in the original box release, or at the very least free to purchasers of the CE. Coming to the DLC after completing the game changes the experience from a nice little diversion in the game to 20 minutes if my life I'll never get back. Much like the points I wasted on it. I feel robbed.

I loved Fable 3, not as much as Fable 2 - but still, I have 40 hours played on 3 characters, and will play more.

Same things, I didn't notice any bug except some window texture glitches in the inner part of some factory. Nothing more.

My own opinion is that Fable 3 is an exciting game, not one of the longest (like Dragon Age) but surely one of the best RPG saga of ever.

About the DLC I'll get it soon, but with no hurry :)

The first Fable come out and then they released it again with more quest. The second Fable came out and they added more to it with DLC. So the third one comes out and they do what they always do just sooner. At less they're not making anyone wait.

Hello,

I've been a faithful fan of the Fable series since the first game. Happily playing even with the glitches of the old. However, people of late are very upset and show reason why. The glitches of this game are so discouraging to players. Then this DLC appears before the update that has been mentioned several times.

For those that are not having any glitches I am happy for you. If you can play without them, grand. Yet for many people like myself that have suffered glitches, during long hours of play and in turn bought many of the downloadable content, extra content via items/merchandise sales or that LCE Content, it is hard not to be upset. So respectively understand folks will be hurt when they pay not only the shelf price of the game, but added to this the other prices and investments of multiple purchases for all the extra game content.

To those like me that are upset and heart wrenched from the glitches? I want to say that keep your cool. These glitches will be fixed in time. The game was sold, and on shelves which legally in the US (where I live) if a game is not given the proper repairs and is still known to cause corruption, malicious kinds of actions in game to the devices played on for too long. The same game can be recalled at cost of the distributer by the Federal Trade Commission. I'm sure Lionhead would not ever want that, seeing the level of amazing work in this game. So even if it may take time. We the players, especially they who invested many hundreds of dollars will have a right to ensure our games are within playable condition before the company can genuinely "pass on" the game. I suggest if you are a diehard fan, buy the new content as you desire and enjoy it during your wait for these fixes. You have all the right to be upset. Just know that as the consumer, our developing friends in Lionhead will keep in mind the consumers have rights to play their product in entirety without constant worry over the problematic glitches.

It may take time for ALL these glitches to  be fixed. Yet take into account, that a number of these glitches effect the later gameplay. It’ll be a while but these are the ones that need to be dealt with first. The ones that are the most important because they effect the most people. Later, those that revolve around falling off the map or bumping into an invisible wall will be dealt with. I am sure because technically it is the financial duty of the company.

Now as for the DLC? I REALLY like it. I’m fickle too. I at first was angry with it, and felt a little cheated seeing the Shooting Range. Something I knew was behind that door in the mercenary camp. However once I saw how it worked, I understood it took more than what we’ve seen in the game already. It is a strange event, the aiming work is fairly off. So I can imagine the team had to test it out a bit more than usual and that’s a reasonable understanding as to why it was held off so long. Then there is the Wheel of Misfortune. While I can’t really understand why it was not in the game… I can, understand it’s separate from the game. This actual bit of content is just for fun. I mean seriously it is a kind of add-on in of itself. True like a Shooting Range every Fable previous has a “coliseum” this time though I think it could have worked without one. It works as a downloadable after thought, and perhaps they needed more time to work out some of the kinks with those fun “new monsters”?

The last I’ll talk about is Understone. It is a fun, little add-on. I say little because it’s not like a region of great involvement. Yet, it IS a new region. One to explore, make a home and do whatever you like. Maybe even get that lovely kill X amount of villagers for a certain weapon? The quest to get it is a little obvious, but still? Wasn’t that kind of the fun of it? Knowing what you were looking for, and sensing the weight of learning the “secret”? The final boss of the level, is both new and not. Something we are accustomed to with these add-ons. Yet it has a perfect place in the game where industry meets magic like this whole quest (As you’d note when playing it) It will offer a little variety for some perhaps enough to give hope new, more epic quests will appear. Fable III is still in Lionhead’s minds and although we heard of work for Fable IV, they won’t leave this world just yet… not, with how much fans are investing in this game. I’d believe.

I thoroughly enjoyed the main game had some bugs occur with a friend losing his save game while sending me items for the weapon achievement. I am disappointed by the short length of this DLC, like others i completed it in under 30 mins which seems a bit short for something which cost 400 mp's. I'm also disappointed that this seems to be cut from the main game as the download only took seconds to arrive. This game has been marred with a series of annoyances and this one kind of puts me off future offerings i'm afraid Lionhead. Between what i've mentioned and the silly issue of American release date ahead of the EU when the game is made in the EU seems a bit insulting to me. At least have it released on the same day everywhere.

Emo Solus wrote re: Understone Quest Pack

@Raorman101. 1. It's armor or armour lol not "armer".

And 2. That armor is just a recolor of the normal one you get from the bowerstone market, you can dye it whatever color you fancy using the dyes :).

I've been playing Fable since Fable 1 (BEST one so far) the last boss battle was MUCH better than 2 (lame) and 3 (better than 2...) Also it had the epicness that is Jack of Blades! (should make a comeback XD) Fable 1 felt like a complete game to me even without TLC, I never noticed any bugs and I miss the mana bar too just not the "your mana is low" warnings lol. Fable 2 was good but the last boss battle was very disappointing, it had some minor bugs, no mana bar. but the expression wheel was good though. Fable 3... Where to begin... 1. Both minor and major bugs in the masses, need I say more? 2. They should of kept the expression wheel... Instead im forced to dance, hug or kiss with everyone male or female... If some guy I dont know walked upto me and forced me to dance with him or tried to kiss me I'd hit him. 3. Most of the content was kept out of the "complete" game only to be given as CE content, preorder bonus (Annoyed! I wanted the channeller sword and got a crappy hammer that I dont use) or sold as DLC. 4. No arena unless you buy the DLC. 5. No shooting range unless you buy the DLC. 6. Should have a "Repair all" button for house repairing. And I could go on but this is long enough already. My final opinion on the DLC is...  It should ALL have already been in the game... Not kept out to sell it a few month or so later. I mean, if they took out the content because it needed more testing, but didnt have time before the release date, then they should of lowered the sale price of the actual game! As I said even all the "CE" and "preorder bonus content" was taken out of the game to be "special" I dont think thats right... They should of made something NEW! Not take it out of the "complete" game... Its like buying a chicken salad sandwich for £2 and only got the bread, then the shop assistant tells you "you can have the filling for your chicken salad sandwich for another £2". All in all I feel cheated out of my money and this half a game for £40 has damaged my oppinion of LH so unless they release actual FREE content and the bug fixes then the damage will be permenant. Now who wants to buy a sandwich for £2? Lol.

It states at the top of this article "Title update coming soon". In the last post about the title update it said something to the effect that LH hoped to release the update around the same time as this DLC. Before that, we were told that LH hoped to have the update sorted "in a couple of weeks". Oddly, I'm beginning to feel somewhat strung along here. Add that to the frustration of having a broken game in the first place and you'll understand that I'm really starting to get brassed off here. Now, there's a quaint English term for you, the kind that I might've been hearing had I actually been able to play this game...

I'm lead to believe that LH were forced into rushing the game out by M$, and it clearly wasn't finished to the best standards, I also understand that people have been devoting time and effort to programming and testing the game (and supposedly the update), but I'm not seeing any benefits of this hard work so, sorry, I'm not inclined to be sympathetic.

Can we have a renewed ETA on the patch, please? 'cus, to be honest, I'm about ready to chalk this game up as a lost cause.

i wish i had a different opinion, but i just played through the DLC and i must say it's awful.

the shooting range and the wheel are just sad. these things don't annoy me because they are parts of the game that simply weren't delivered (which they are, by the way), but because they aren't fun AT ALL. in my first try on the wheel i scored TEN times the best score, and, for me, that's not fun.

the main quest is boring as hell (and there are no new stalls to own, only houses) and meaningless as well. i kind of liked the initial mood of the story, but in the end it doesn't even match the quality of the side quests from the main game.

Fable 2 was my GOTY for sure, fut this fable 2.1 simply doesn´t deliver.

try something new nex time, please.

I was exploring the Old Quarter one day and wondered what that little hole was for, as soon as I got news of this DLC I figured that's what it was. I love being right. Haha. But, that also means the locked door in The Veiled Path is DLC, they put all of this stuff into the game and make us spend Microsoft Points to unlock it all. That's why Understone took a whole ten seconds to download. Lionhead really outdid themselves with making fans pay for playing this game. Oh well, I will continue to support Lionhead and the Fable series. (TLC was still the best) Tatty Bye.

@ ukdragon1991 I agree with you, I used to like peter but the amount of times he has lied, he just really fs me off now... But technically they did put it in the game... Its just not unlocked until you buy the "key" ... probs a loophole that they found so they can milk more money out of us... SERIOUSLY LIONHEAD WE ARE NOT COWS! And with the way things are going with money atm we need the money that your draining from us for a game we ALREADY PAYED FOR! Oh and another thing... Stick to what your best at... Like the good game Fable 1.

unfortunately I glitched right before the electric gate on the DLC no monsters spawned. OO cant go down the elevator and i cant start any other quests. Now i cant play my game. I wonder if I should not have downloaded the patch until after i had beat the game. I hope they fix soon. I dont want to have to start all over again. :(

Loved the shooting range, cool how you could shoot crows, rabbits, and the teddy bear to get points, though I wish it had been in the begining of the game would have helped have a weapon that gives you money right after you take out Saker.

I bought the quest pack straight away, just like the old DLC's it is good, just not very long. It was also only 400 points though. I got like 4x Reaver's score for the wheel and got top prize on the shooting range first time, dead easy. I did spend ages upgrading my Black Dragon though, 550 points. That was hard. I think they should include all the dyes and outfits in the DLC and have it cost more really :/ It just seems they are out to make money

I don't care about the negative comments, I have had my share of glitches also, but I'm still going to get the dlc quest.

Oh Lionhead and Mr. Molyneux...I would like to first start by saying that the first two Fable titles are what made me decide to take up a career in game design and Peter Molyneux will always have a special place in my heart for the worlds that he has helped to create, but to say that I have been let down by my Fable III experience would be an understatement.

When I heard that Fable II was about to release, one of the first things that I thought was, "Hey, I'm glad they have such a good game coming to the 360, I'm sure that now that the game is on such a powerful system all of that lag  and glitchy texture loading, music skipping, game freezing and general chunkieness will be gone." And yet here we are, I have played through two campaigns of Fable III and all of the DLC and have found that they really dropped the ball here.

Why take away all that was good from the first title? Armor meant something, as did augments to your weapon. If you chose to be a thief, you could sneak and steal and be super awesome. If you were evil, you had horns and flies, if you were good you had a halo and butterflies.

These things were what made Fable a good title, the ability to feel like you were a hero in a fairytale, not a monarch that dances with every villager individually to carry out monotonous "friendship" quests that give you guild seals that have absolutely no purpose about half way through the game.

There are many good things that came from Fable II as well, the addition of the dog to the gameplay was awesome, no more looking for a shovel to pop up on your screen when looking for the buried frying pan was a very nice change of pace and having the company brought a feeling of companionship to the general emotional feel of the game.

I will say that the multiplayer aspect of Fable III is all that I could have hoped for and more. Why more games don't allow you to have same screen, import character and play with a friend on the couch multiplayer is beyond me.

Perhaps the most disappointing thing to surface in my Fable III experience is that with everything that you took away from me, my augments, my ability to woo a crowd, my freaking horns(which was like slapping me in the face after cutting off my tender bits) you took away the Arena and the Shooting Ranges and made them into DLC that was almost...almost up to par with the second game's Colosseum level and that level had very much left me wanting.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I spent $80 on the Limited Edition of this game so that I could utilize the Villager Maker(which my villager has never appeared, even after following all steps posted on the website) and $10+ on the DLC that has become available for the game and I still don't feel like my experience with Fable III has even come close to comparison with that of playing the first or second Fable titles. I will still continue to play and buy titles in the future, but I think, more than anything this has driven me to get a job at a major studio when I get out of school so that I can be part of a game that is everything that this game should have been.

Although the only glitch i am experiencing is the mute jasper glitch which is not a major problem since I beat it. I can see people's frustration and I believe the only way you can earn peoples respect back is not only through an update but through a message from peter molyneux on the website saying how he would like to offer players a free dlc, it could be fairly short as it would not get Lionhead any money but it would be a big step in boosting your companies public relations. This would also help address grievances against how the game was a little to short. This is not a reprimand on Lionhead as I found this game superior to fable 2 in many ways. But a suggestion to help keep some of the more dissatisfied fans due to glitches.

You don't even have to buy this.. you can acess it through joining someones game who is in understone

I am disappointed. I had only one minor glitch in my previous 5 completed games...... and then I downloaded Understone to my system. Now I enjoy frequent glitching with some glitches being unrepairable.

Here is a simple question.... What ever happened to having save slots like Fable 1? If I could actually choose when and how many save games I want for a character, at least I would have something to fall back on when my character is stuck in some game-halting glitch.

If there is a Fable 4 in the future, I can safely say that I will mark the release date on my calendar and buy it 6 months later when it will probably be working correctly. (I am, admittedly, a Fable junkie)

Albion is a rich and intriguing world, and it is my hope that LionHead will return to the basics that made Fable a great game in any future titles.

i think that lionhead should make this DLS free, considering that the game was a dissapointmet, make it up to the fans.

There is a lot of hate on here. It's quite sickening really. I mean Lionhead have put together a great game in what, 3 years? They were working to deadlines that they did not set and had to cut lots of things out. Now, if you were disappointed by Fable 3 I think that chances are the only person to blame would be yourself. There was quite a lot shown of what the game would have etc.

I will admit that I was disappointed that when I became King and was looking forward to playing the second half of the game it just went by in a flash. However that leaves the game very open to DLC and extended content of all sorts, where possibly Lionhead can incorporate ideas that they originally had to cut out, or abandon.

With a game as big and epic as Fable 3 you are going to have lots of bugs, especially with a rushed deadline. So people complaining that this DLC should not have come out before the patch is being a bit stupid. The Undercity was cut content, it was a nearly finished product that they started work on once the game was finished but not launched. Now you have people yelling for more content in the game, and people yelling about the glitches. To me it seems sensible to release the DLC to partially appease people and so that they could focus solely on fixing the problems. Also I would like to remind people that a lot of games do not actually do big fix all patches like lionhead do. Some game companies would simply say "You jumped down a hill into a tree and got stuck? Well that was stupid of you, just don't do it again." We should count ourselves lucky.

So people with problems try to be patient and wait for them to address your issues. And people stop complaining and hating on the forums. It's not going to achieve anything positive that is for certain, and may dissuade the team from doing any more for Fable, and even stop any ideas they have for the future. It would be very discouraging and disheartening to be subject to all this hate.

Anyway I have said enough. Cheers all.

I have experienced a really terrible glitch in Understone.

And when searching the inet i found i'm not the only one:

*spoiler*

After the elevator, coming in the first hobbes spawn area, nothing happens.

The far electric fence closes, the first one stays open and no hobbes spawn.

Now i'm stuck here and even worse: my game has saved here.

And most recently: my dog got stuck behind a fence.

*spoiler*

Anyone know of a solution for this problem?

Deleting the DLC won't work ad it doesn't show up in the memory of the xbox, 'cause it's only unlocked.

HELP!!!!!

What's with my game glitching out at the electric wall after going up the elevator?  No hobbes spawned for me , I can't fast travel, and I can't go back, so I'm stuck... is there a patch or something for this.  I don't want to start a new game...
