It is astounding that when discussing the lack of revenue evidence, Feinberg and your interviewer didn't simply ask for the claimants federal tax returns. Whether the business deals were done w/o a receipt or based on a handshake - the business person was still required to file a federal tax return. Simply producing these returns would show past year's revenue and provide a starting point for establishing a claim amount. Unless of course the claimant had not filed a federal return - then that is fraud.

I have a questions about these people wanting BP to pay them without proof of income. How do they file correct records with the IRS if they do not keep written records? I agree that these people should be compensated for their loss but I also agree with the lawyer who said he needs written proof of income.

Feinberg should have brought the checkbook with him on the trip. All brought with him are more empty promises and false hopes. Feinberg sounds like a typical gas-bag lawyer, who never answers calls and who never actually does anything but make false promises to people, excusing himself for not having done a better job. This doesn't get those people in the Gulf paid.
